Critic Reviews
- HIGH Guns, but not lots of guns! LOW Mediocre on every level. WTF Who makes jokes while covered in demon blood, fighting for his soul!?
· Apr 06, 2026 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Can it do enough to earn its way to something bigger?
· Nov 07, 2025 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Painkiller is a shame not because it's especially bad, but because some of the fun weapons and combat are buried beneath the dull, uninspired and repetitive mechanics, and a surprisingly short 6-hour runtime.
Gareth Chadwick · Nov 06, 2025 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Painkiller (2025) is worth grabbing if you’ve got friends and want fast, bloody fun in co-op - but don’t expect a full return to the glory days especially in solo play.
Tom Henry · Nov 01, 2025 Reviewed on PC, PS5, Series X|SRead full review - Painkiller is a frustrating game. The designs for the Raid levels and enemies are largely disappointing, the story is nearly nonexistent and ends on a low note, and the Great Value Wheedonisms the characters deploy in combat often had my eyes nearly rolling out of their sockets.

James Davie · Oct 31, 2025 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Some baffling design decisions mar what is otherwise a satisfying shooter. 3.5 Nailed it! Anshar Studios’ Painkiller reboot nails the one thing it needed to do.

· Oct 28, 2025 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Painkiller's reimagining delivers chaotic combat, satisfying weapon upgrades, and fluid movement, with fun co-op and roguelike modes.
