  • One of the reasons Bush, and star players running backs like him, can excel is the newfangled highlight stick which lives on the right analog. If you time it right, your player will turn into a whirling dervish of indefensible, ripping off one of forty broken tackle animations. And the moves differ depending on the back.

Were there only a leap from the current gen to Sony's next gen system, Madden NFL 07 for the PS3 would be a much richer feat. However, since this is the exact same title that's come out on the 360 with minor adjustments to some of the gameplay and the visuals, it's hard to be blown away with its debut on the PS3.

  • There's no doubt about it, Madden 07 is far superior to its predecessor in just about every way, despite some glaring issues that prevent this year's gridiron game from being a true classic. The problem here is that Madden is still in desperate need of a makeover and although this year's NHL looks to be doing just that, Madden continues to be just another step in the right direction.

  • Madden fans will find little reason to ever take this disc out of the X360. The gameplay here is deeper than ever and the new Madden Gamer Level is much more fair to offline gamers.

  • Madden NFL 07 for the 360 is a huge leap forward for the series, especially compared to last year's game

  • There's no one big, game-changing feature added to this year's game, and the bugs are certainly going to hamper your enjoyment, but the culmination of re-added features and control upgrades give the necessary oomph to make the 360 version feel like more than just last year's game all over again. If you skipped 06, definitely give 07 a look, as it's far more representative of what a football game on the 360 ought to be like.

  • Madden NFL has been the only game in town for awhile now, but the new additions in NFL 07 make it a must have for serious and casual fans alike. It's Madden like you've never played it before and that's something we haven't said in a long time.

  • As always, all you're paying for here are some minor updates, a couple of simplistic new modes, and that new season / franchise data. Unless you're an absolute addict, there's no need for this game. If you are an absolute addict, there are better games out there. If you insist on buying this, just remember; if you want to play any multiplayer, in a year's time you'll probably have to buy another one.

    About the game

In its 17th installment, you control the running game like never before. For the first time ever, step up as the lead blocker to create a hole, and then take control of the tailback and smash through, overpower, or slash away from would-be tacklers as you fight for every yard. Innovative rushing controls give you a game-breaking ground attack featuring all-new jukes, cutbacks, and the distinct running styles of your favorite backs.
