The Jak and Daxter Collection’s three games are excellent, but if you have the ability to play them on the PS3 (or hell, even the PS2), then that's the way to go. While the PS3 collection is a gorgeous, near-perfect port, while the Vita version is a nearly good enough port plagued by control and performance problems that gum up the works.

In the end, this trilogy should be on your list of must-play, or even must-play-again games. If you have never had the pleasure of immersing yourself in Naughty Dog’s award-winning opus, you definitely should, and this HD remake has made it available to the masses.

What the Vita lacks in software, it makes up for in opportunity. UI tweaks, perfectly mapped controls, and a beautiful translation to the Vita's portable screen make it perfect for anyone traveling for the summer, sitting on the toilet in need of PS2 greatness, or even people like me who just missed Jak & Daxter's adventures the first time around.

Jak and Daxter is an excellent franchise and one of my all-time favorites, but the Vita collection doesn't really do it justice. If you're keen on experiencing these classics, whether it's for the first or fortieth time, it's probably best to wait for either a price drop, or just pick up the superior PS3 version.

I like Jak and Daxter. Like many others I am eagerly hoping Naughty Dog make a Jak and Daxter game for the PlayStation 4, but this is not a good way to get your Jak and Daxter fix. The Jak and Daxter Collection on the PlayStation Vita is a horribly optimized, buggy, glitchy, inconsistent mess that should be avoided at all costs. Don't let the promise of playing a collect-a-thon (which should be perfect for gaming on the go) persuade you to buy this. Just play it on the PlayStation 3 instead.
