- Guitar Hero Live brings Activision's former fan-favorite franchise back to the fold in new and impressive ways. Handing over the reigns to the DJ Hero team was probably the best decision the publisher made in the rhythm game department since agreeing to publish the very first Guitar Hero a decade ago.

Jim Squires · Oct 29, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - GH Live’s iOS guitar bundle retails for the same price as its console counterparts ($100 USD). If you don’t want the guitar bundle you can choose to pay $59.99 which lets you play the game using finger tapping. Both options present a steep barrier to entry considering its console counterparts are much better. Do yourself a favour and play GH Live PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, before touching the IOS version.
Sidd Masand · Oct 28, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Chords are now more accurate given the split frets as well, and the whole thing is immensely satisfying, being both more and less difficult yet somehow a great reinterpretation of the form. Your mileage may vary on the tracklist, but there's enough classics in it for me, and the note charting is rarely poor. So, somehow, against the odds, Guitar Hero: Live has given life back to a series thought long dead.
Steven Burns · Oct 28, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Even with the disappointing Live mode, Guitar Hero Live is a refreshing take on controller-based rhythm games. The streaming focus in GHTV works extremely well despite some technical hiccups, and as long Activision keeps rolling out new songs to the library, this is the kind of game I’ll be regularly playing for a long time. This is a fantastic start to a new era of Guitar Hero games.
Neal Ronaghan · Oct 28, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Heck, you don't have to pay anything if you don't want to, as the damn thing is free if you just want to try it out first. And you should, because it really is Guitar Hero on iOS, and that's pretty awesome.
Nathan Reinauer · Oct 27, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Although Rock Band still has the bigger catalog, more instruments, and backward compatibility, Guitar Hero Live is progressive, nimble, and, well, lively. The new guitar and GHTV system get me truly excited about playing rhythm titles again. After seeing what Freestyle Games has done, Rock Band’s enormous library, and the promise of making it available across releases feels like a crutch by comparison, tying that franchise to its established model.
Suriel Vazquez · Oct 26, 2015 Reviewed on XB1, iOSRead full review - Guitar Hero Live is a bold new step forward for the series, as well as peripheral-based music games overall. While Rock Band 4 stuck more rigidly to tradition and provided a solid party game, Live delivers a more personal game, albeit one with a lot more going on under the hood. Were it not for the more questionable elements of Guitar Hero TV and its fee-to-pay elements, Guitar Hero Live would have been a damn near perfect game.
Jim Sterling · Oct 26, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - If you own a Wii U and like to rock, Guitar Hero Live is your best bet. Not because it's the only game in town, but because it's actually a wonderfully addictive rhythm title with plenty to offer. With GH TV and a snazzy new controller players will find themselves happily diving head first into the best solo guitar experience since the series' inception. Break out the leather vest and fingerless gloves, Guitar Hero is back.
Ben Bertoli · Oct 23, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - If you loved Guitar Hero from a few years ago, there isn't any reason that you won't feel the nostalgia using the app.
