- Una aventura original y diferente que, a pesar de entretener, tener misiones muy variadas y contar con un apartado audiovisual realmente bonito, intenta abarcar demasiados géneros y estilos de juego sin llegar a profundizar en nada de lo que hace.

It looks spectacular most of the time, especially the environments, but takes plenty of liberties when it comes to ant society and general creature abilities to create a decent narrative. The strategy game elements work well, although there aren't many complex systems to master, while platforming feels unnecessary. The single-player campaign offers some interesting tactical challenges, and the free-for-all three-sided multiplayer is pretty exciting. Empire of the Ants does not innovate much but offers a unique strategy experience.

To me, it made a lot of sense and I’m glad we not only have that, but we have that in an absolutely stunning way. This game is one of the best-looking games which I think helps it tremendously. The game isn’t bad itself, but it can be slow at times so making it nice to look at is really great. Top that with a controller layout that works pretty well, and you have a good RTS on console which is not an easy feat. Empire of the Ants is a pleasant experience that RTS fans should not look past.

The game is approachable for newbies or those who do not want to hassle with elaborate strategic maneuvers, and it offers additional gameplay via the hub, world exploration, and a surprising amount of platforming.

Grâce à l’Unreal Engine 5, le jeu propose des visuels impressionnants et détaillés, sublimés par une bande-son orchestrale qui accentue l’immersion. Cependant, bien que l’ensemble soit visuellement superbe et original, le gameplay reste parfois trop simpliste, surtout dans les phases de stratégie en temps réel. Les mécaniques sont accessibles et limitées, ce qui pourrait décevoir les amateurs de stratégie qui recherchent profondeur et diversité. Le manque de diversité dans les missions et la progression, relativement lente, risquent également de réduire l'intérêt sur la durée, malgré des phases d’exploration qui varient le rythme. Cela n’en reste pas moins une bonne expérience, tout bonnement fascinante si l’on s'intéresse un tant soit peu à la nature.

On est émerveillé par un tel monde et par le souci du détail et de la cohérence de l’univers proposé dans un seul but : une immersion maximale. Ce photoréalisme et cette partie sonore réussis s’accompagnent d’un gameplay et d’un contenu varié en mixant des genres plus habituels au PC au monde console, dans un format des plus originaux où le joueur est au premier plan, sur le terrain. Certes, tout n’est pas parfait, mais le positif prend clairement le pas au moment de faire le bilan. C’est un véritable coup de cœur.
