- It’s absolutely insane. Utter havoc. It’s what makes Diablo 3 the preeminent action RPG, even if there are newer and arguably better designs out there. I still grin, shake my head, and marvel at Blizzard’s ability to fuse charm, character, and technical prowess. They are the masters of swirling cartoonish videogame power fantasies, they belong on the Switch, and they’re here at last.
Tom Chick · Nov 29, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Diablo III on Switch is simply spectacular. It’s a phenomenal port that really shows what the Switch is capable of, and honestly, I think it might just be my favourite version of the game yet. Sure, it doesn’t quite look or perform its best on Nintendo’s hybrid console, but being able to dip into the game anytime, anywhere more than makes up for it. Whether you’ve got a few hours or a few minutes to spare, booting up Diablo III will always provide an entertaining way to fill them.
Richard Seagrave · Nov 16, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Once again Nintendo’s little machine is getting love that the Wii U never got from third party developers and we are seeing so many great games make the transition to the Switch, with Diablo 3 being the best of the bunch so far, a near perfect port with an endless amount of content to keep you happy for as long as you like. If you own a Switch then you owe it to yourself to pick up Diablo 3 and go Devil hunting.
John Whitehouse · Nov 15, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The portable nature of the Switch has proven to be a huge selling point, with the idea of taking your favorite games on the go (by which I mean lounge around upside down on your couch because that’s what real people do) causing many to pull the trigger on a purchase. Diablo III is one of the most attractive offerings so far, with its grind-driven nature, expansive range of content, and easy drop-in drop-out local co-op, making it easy for you to pick up and play however you want for as long as you want, wherever you may be, this perfect Switch fodder. It’s also super helpful for those times where you don’t have a phone handy.
Thomas Medina · Nov 13, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Every character eventually suffers from serious power creep. Lastly, if you succumb to the temptations of the metagame, the luster will fade in a way that you can’t reverse. In spite of all this, I can easily and wholeheartedly recommend Diablo III: Eternal Collection for the Nintendo Switch. Whether you’ve never played before or you’ve put in over a thousand hours, this game will pull you right in without a second’s hesitation.
James Paley · Nov 06, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - So, allow me to correct myself, and slightly amend my statement from the beginning of this article: Diablo III: Eternal Collection is not just “one of the best Diablo-related gaming bundles you can get”, it’s probably a definitive one, and Nintendo Switch had a special privilege to enjoy something special indeed. After all, they don’t call it “Eternal” for nothing.
Brandon Rhuhm Wolfe · Nov 05, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The only other negative thing I can say is that in the handheld mode, the UI and text feel a bit small and hard to read. Luckily, you don’t really have to pay much attention to those parts of the game but it is something that could annoy some players.
Emil Gunnarsson · Nov 02, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Diablo III Eternal Collection is a fantastic dungeon crawler and one that feels right at home on Nintendo’s console. Blizzard’s modern-day classic still shines brightly six years after its initial release on PC and now thanks to the Switch’s portable functionality, your incessant quest for better loot will be able to continue wherever you are. Could this be the best version of Diablo III yet? I’ll just say being able to slay monsters on my commute certainly makes a strong case.
Ryan Janes · Nov 02, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Diablo III: Eternal Collection is a lovely port of a classic RPG loot-a-thon that keeps its feet firmly in the past. The execution is wonderful, but its gameplay is not something that will appeal to everyone due to the high level of repetition. Its visuals are clear and functional if not especially interesting, but performance is top notch to make up for it. If you’re looking for a loot-driven grind-a-thon with more explosions of viscera than you can comfortably discuss with your mother, this is the game for you.
Alex Olney · Oct 30, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - At $60, it makes this game a tough sell for those who have already invested in it elsewhere, along with its expansions, to simply be able to play it wherever they go. However, considering the amount of content included and the hundreds of hours of gameplay available right from the start, and that’s not even counting the Seasonal content that comes to the game on a regular basis, new players, without a doubt, will get the most bang for their buck, even at that price.
