- Not to mention the DLC, mainly because I haven’t played it yet. But it’s not as if Desperados III needs RPG character progression or loadouts or unlockables. It’s got what it needs: a keen appreciation for how to smooth the tedium out of stealth games, adroitly presented by its rakish cast on a picante Western stage.
Tom Chick · Dec 24, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The game definitely encourages experimentation on several levels and those easily frustrated by repeating parts of games will find the difficulty overbearing at times. As someone who has issues with games like that though, I found myself drawn to this one more so than others. The quicksave led me to take more chances and the variety of characters and abilities kept it interesting.
Ken McKown · Aug 06, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - When it’s demands seem at their peak of insurmountability, the mechanical expressiveness and freedom of your party’s combat abilities never fail to provide you with just the right amount of tools to make you come out of any scenario feeling like the smartest person to ever play video games.
Jarrett Green · Aug 03, 2020 Reviewed on PC - The rest of the game is excellent, no matter what platform you choose. It's a challenging title that isn't afraid to frustrate or overwhelm you, and that can sometimes sour the otherwise excellent gameplay. If you have thick skin and an unquenched desire to solve stealth puzzles in the Wild West, Desperados III is the best real-time tactical stealth game that I have played in a long, long time.
Andreas Salmen · Jul 29, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Desperados 3 is about 30 hours from start to finish (depending on how you play) and graphically it looks beautiful. The mix of stealth and puzzle elements keep the gameplay fresh and exciting. While those who are looking for something a bit faster paced might be disappointed, it’s hard to argue with the satisfaction you feel when you drop a boulder on two unsuspecting thugs below.
Michael Newman · Jul 14, 2020 Reviewed on PC, PS4, XB1Read full review - Desperados 3 is a superb package. It's a clever, cunning game of stealth and tactical thinking that, thanks to a generous quick-save system and wealth of informative visual cues, entices you to tinker with all the toys it has on offer and fully explore the possibility spaces of its elaborate levels. There's no need for a do-over here; Desperados 3 is a dead-eye shot on the very first try.
David Wildgoose · Jul 10, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Desperados III provides for around 25-30 hours of gameplay. Admittedly, some of that will be replaying sections of maps after your initial plans don’t work out. The reasonably clever AI certainly makes things interesting. If they discover you sneaking around or notice a comrade slumped on the floor, they will investigate and will often call for backup.
William Thompson · Jun 29, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I’d say that for me, Desperados III is a relatively easy buy at retail price. For most of my friends, it would be worth picking up on sale, and for a few who aren’t really interested in this genre typically, I don’t think this is the game that’ll change their minds. For most, I’d say follow that general guide. If you’re a fan of this genre or just have an intense itch for a good story set in the Old West, then this is probably an easy recommendation.
Red Thomas · Jun 25, 2020 Reviewed on PC, PS4, XB1Read full review - Desperados III is a great game which offers a lot of content, besides welcoming new and old players of the genre. The game has everything it promises, with loads of content and more to come later on.
Noparg · Jun 22, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - As of now The Academy: The First Riddle is only available on mobile devices and PC, but it will be releasing to consoles very soon. Due to the nature of the focus on puzzles, I would say that this would be most at home on your mobile device or Nintendo Switch for short brain flexing bursts. Regardless of platform, The Academy: The First Riddle is a delight not only for fans of Harry Potter, but for any lover of the puzzle genre.
