  • Fans of open-world survival games, dark fantasy settings, and cooperative multiplayer experiences will find a substantial amount of content to enjoy here.

  • Conan Exiles isn’t a bad game, it is actually a very well done game that just lacks some proper balancing. For the folks who love to get lost into interesting worlds and don’t mind repetitively harvesting resources to marginally proceed then this is the game for you. If Conan Exiles didn’t have me gather 1,000 resources just for one item I probably wouldn’t have gotten as burnt out as I did. Also, even though it does have server issues I do like they give you plenty of options to play the game as you want. For that I would recommend Conan Exiles to only those that really enjoy survival games.

  • While there is fun to be had, it’s hard to justify the $50 price point when there are just better ways to spend your time and money. If MMO and Survival games are your bread and butter and really the only games you play, Conan Exiles is definitely a game you could have fun with for a while and with no monthly fee to play the game it has a slight advantage over some, but we’d recommend waiting for a drop in price.

  • With Conan Exiles, you’re either in or you’re out. There’s a hardcore fanbase out there that loves this game, but there’s an exceptionally high learning and enjoyment curve that will keep more casual players from getting invested enough to explore its deepest content or even wade around much in the shallow end. On a quality level, the game simply doesn’t feel like it made it out of early access even though this is the full release.

  • Like any game, Conan Exiles is best played with friends (and this game is AMAZING with a group of idiot friends). A battle to the death with 6 naked cannibals and a giant tiger is hands down the best gaming experience I’ve had in 2018. This game is the current high water mark in open-world survival and the biggest surprise of 2018 for me so far. 9/10 dongs in the desert wind.

While walking around the world, its enemy behaviors and animations resemble games from a distant past, glitches are very common, and the environments include nothing of substance. In this particular version of the Conan the barbarian, the world was too dull and unpolished to lure me in. The crafting system – while confusing – is unquestionably deep, which enabled me to build some cool things in an environment that offered no true variety or immersion.

  • Conan Exiles is a pretty good game with some excellent visuals, but while the Early Access was perhaps 50% there, the full release only reaches about 75%. Perhaps one day it will reach 100.

  • Funcom is at work on a patch to allow more of that tedium to be automated (either through Thralls or special structures), but at the moment it's a weird feeling to be the master of the castle full of thralls, yet still be the only one capable of hauling up the rocks and twigs needed to further exapnd your fortress.

  • In this case, the sum of the parts is greater than each system on its own. The game is robust with a powerful combat engine, server configuration, and modding capabilities. It does have some rough spots and holes Funcom needs to work on: combat and AI bugs, the horribly disorganized crafting menu, some performance issues and a desperate need for a great story experience like Tortuga or Secret World Legends.

  • Ultimately, Conan Exiles is one of the most unsatisfying games I’ve ever played. Its crafting and resource systems may be dense enough that the ultra-patient could find something to enjoy here, but anyone else would likely walk away with their hands thrown up in defeat. The mind-numbing tedium of harvesting resources, woefully boring combat, and a slew of bugs left me feeling completely underwhelmed and unimpressed when it was all said and done.
