- Citizens of Earth knows where to draw worthy inspiration from and strikes success in numerous areas, but equally suffers in others. Relentless loading screens perpetuate every screen transition, frustration toward them only increased through the game’s entirety as you wait to continue the adventure. Whereas the narrative itself fails to stir any urgency in the player toward succeeding in their quest.
Alex Seedhouse · Feb 22, 2015 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - It's rare for a game so clearly concerned with the past to be so thoughtful and progressive. Citizens of Earth contains straightforward, deep gameplay that veteran RPG players will appreciate. But it also builds a fun story with a memorable cast of characters. It balances gracefully between two audiences, finding a truly worthwhile alternative in the middle ground.
Philip Kollar · Feb 17, 2015 Reviewed on PC, PS4Read full review - Citizens of Earth is a rare breed of sprawling RPG that doesn't take itself too seriously, and blends solid mechanics with parody and imagination very well indeed. The style is there, but when it comes to overall experience, a long list of glitches rains on this Vice President's parade somewhat. Consider electing the WIi U version over the 3DS port for superior visuals that do add a welcome extra vote, but if you're set on taking this adventure on the go it's still very much worth your attention.
Conor McMahon · Feb 07, 2015 Reviewed onRead full review - Citizens of Earth is a game that spends too much time trying to feed on people's notalgia then trying to be unique or fresh. An old combat system is reborn, but then instantly gets old again. It also offers far too much in the way of side quests that the games main quest, which never seems to pick up anyway, even more forgettable.
Liam Langan · Feb 05, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Ultimately, the game is such an infinite fountain of charming and funny, that even when you've started rolling your eyes at how often you've had to wait for one of the traffic cone/hermit crab enemies to come out of defense, you end up getting into a conversation with an NPC and forgetting it ever happened.
Justin Clark · Feb 02, 2015 Reviewed on PS4, VitaRead full review - Do I hate Citizens of Earth? Not at all. I feel like there’s plenty to enjoy, and the old-time RPG feel bursts from the surface quite admirably. What I don’t like is how the game throws a quest at me every time I speak to someone to the point where I don’t think I’m ever going to complete them. The overload distracts from what is a really cool game, and if the focus had been more on why the VP is fighting and less on creating a grocery list Citizens of Earth would have been much more appealing. If this Vice President gets a second term, I know the first thing I would fix.
Jason Fanelli · Feb 02, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - If I were to think hard and long about the bad parts of Citizens of Earth, I’d probably cite the game’s stability. The game crashed several times, many times while saving. Maybe the game is more stable on mobile platforms, but the PC version has a lot of backend programming problems. Heck, sometimes quests would just complete without me actually taking the steps to complete them which… was nice… but was still weird.
Angelo M. D'Argenio · Jan 26, 2015 Reviewed onRead full review - Making matters worse, the game does very little to guide you. You have an agenda that lists all your main missions and side tasks, but it doesn’t provide information on what you need to do. Instructions are frustratingly vague and lead to hours of wandering around the map with no inkling of what you need to do. The map isn’t at all helpful either.
Matt Liebl · Jan 24, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The passion behind Citizens of Earth is undeniable. The execution, unfortunately, lags behind other indie titles that take inspiration from essential gaming classics. There’s so much potential in this intriguing fusion of EarthBound and Suikoden, and the basics of a competent RPG are all here. The storytelling, world-building, and other elements necessary to craft a truly standout role-playing experience, however, are MIA in Citizens of Earth.
Andrew Fitch · Jan 23, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The stunted, load time-induced pace of Citizens of Earth is hard to tolerate at times, but the overall adventure, gameplay, and world make this RPG a worthwhile experience on 3DS.

About the game
Citizens of Earth is an RPG that places you in the shoes of the Vice President of the World! He's a classic bureaucrat: charming, charismatic, but practically useless. After recently winning the vice presidency, he returns to his rural home town for some vacation. But he soon inadvertently discovers that there is some very strange stuff happening around town. Feeling a sense of responsibility as an elected official you decide to do something about it! But being the bureaucrat you are, you don't actually want to get your hands dirty. Thus you go about using your charisma to recruit normal townsfolk to help you investigate and fight your battles for you.
