- Battlerite keeps me coming back to improve and add to my bag of tricks along the way. Stunlock’s approach to MOBA combat creates a near-even playing field that makes each outplay feel earned, whether it was me or my foe picking up the win. These arenas are places I can see myself brawling for a long time to come.

It’s an indie game wading into territory that has proved perilous to bigger budget endeavours and making a success of it. Most importantly, though, it’s a game that gets to the heart of why it’s fun to team up with your friends and make tiny wizards fight one another.
Chris Thursten · Dec 01, 2017 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Matches don’t take an hour to complete, it’s accessible, it plays and looks good, and there’s a lot to learn for those willing to commit to the game’s meta. It’s a very weird task to review a game that may look drastically different in a couple of months. MOBAs by design are not meant to be static, they change and adapt to growing meta trends. I’ve had the joy of playing this title before it fully launched, and I have to say the game has grown and changed for the better. With only more features and characters to be released in the future, there’s very little reason to not at least give Battlerite a try. This title is probably “the” most accessible MOBA out right now, all without sacrificing the depth and teamplay that has made this one of the most popular genres in gaming.

You can tell that something great is going to be in that box, and that’s lovely. It’s a fantastic combination of arena battle and fighting game mechanics, and it maintains the charm and addictiveness of the game that inspired it.

While not perfect and not palatable for everyone, it can give hours of entertainment for those in search of an easy to pick up, hard to master kind of game that offers quick and frantic matches.

Rounds are quick, but gameplay is addictive and fluid enough that you can continually play without realizing it. Though it may not have much depth, Battlerite has lots of action packed into an easy to learn package.

Champions come in all shapes and sizes, from raging giant chieftains to a peaceful fawn, and each character has their own personality and backstory. In fact, it's even made clear they're all in the arena to let off some steam.

I’ve played my share of MOBAs old and new with most of my time has been put into League of Legends and Overwatch, so it’s no small feat for a game to waltz onto the scene and completely capture me. Battlerite does things right on so many levels that it’s hard to ignore. Games are fast, frenetic, packed with only the greatest moments of League or Dota without slogging through the 20-30 minutes of ‘filler’ gameplay like farming, pushing lanes, and so forth.
