  • Part of me wishes Another Crab’s Treasure predated the Souls games, just so we would have to refer to genre offshoots as Crablikes. The sauce is certainly thick on this one, and I’ll be thinking about it for quite some time. Another Crab’s Treasure pulls off exactly what it set out to do, and it’s going to be a favorite for many. Thanks to some of the less palatable late-game moments, it didn’t quite get to that level for me, but I very much appreciate all the shell-bound friends and pelagic puns I met along the way.

  • Despite the game looking colorful and cartoony, the grunts and bosses do present a challenging experience that is a test of skill and patience. The performance is noticeably rough around the edges, but the experience is fun nonetheless. Another Crab’s Treasure is a treasure worth digging for indeed. I recommend this to those looking for a new challenge and those who have yet to experience a ‘soulslike.’

  • On reflection, I now realise how original Another Crab’s Treasure actually is. It’s quite bold to take a genre known for a certain tone (gloomy, gothic moodiness) and overlay a completely polar opposite tone on top of it. That takes some cojones! But Another Crab’s Treasure pulls it off, and Aggro Crab must be applauded for presenting a challenging, meaningful and, at times, riotous gameplay experience.

  • Another Crab’s Treasure boasts the usual facets of a Soulslike whilst also implementing its own take on well-known mechanics. Nevertheless, significant drops in frame rate, numerous glitches, and occasionally awkward controls do hinder the experience, at least on Nintendo Switch. If you can look past these problems, or if updates arrive to patch them up, Another Crab’s Treasure may scratch your Soulslike itch.

  • Kein Seemannsgarn: Another Crab's Treasure bringt dank innovativer Ideen frischen Wind in das Soulslike-Genre. Kleinere Probleme sind nicht zu leugnen, schlagen dank viel Charme und Humor aber keine hohen Wellen.

  • After diving into Another Crab's Treasure, it's hard to understand why hasn't more been done to expand beyond the foundational souls-like element. There's clearly room for thinking outside the box, and Aggro Crab mostly nails it with this unique take. With colorful characters and an even more vibrant world, jump in for the feel-good vibes and partake in mostly satisfying underwater combat. Despite the occasional hiccups, this is still one shell of an adventure that works great for genre veterans and newcomers alike.

  • Even though Another Crab’s Treasure doesn’t break the mold of your typical Souls-like game, it’s a charming one thanks to its funny and not-so-serious mood. The hilarious yet practical accessibility features along with a colorful cast of characters make this one of the best indie Souls-likes to date. Who knew that one of my favorite indie games of this year would involve a hermit crab setting off on a deep sea adventure to take back his shell?
