  • Theatrhythm Final Fantasy still stands above the rest. While general enjoyment is somewhat dependent on whether you're a Final Fantasy fan or not, it's still a competent rhythm game nonetheless. Above all, it’s a fitting tribute to 25 years of the series, and one of the best Square Enix games in recent years – and that’s all it really needs to be.

  • It absolutely does justice to the Final Fantasy brand, presenting its characters and, most importantly, music with love and respect that makes it feel like a tribute as much as a standalone video game. There are so many songs to play, items to find and characters to level up you’ll find yourself struggling to put it down.

  • This is a throughly entertaining rhythm game, one that proves itself to be as addictive as greats like Elite Beat Agents and Rhythm Heaven Fever. It has been lovingly put together in a way that pays great tribute to the Final Fantasy series and its music, without ever taking Aitself too seriously--just one look at the squeal-inducing cuteness of the chibi characters is enough to confirm that.

Whether you’re a huge Final Fantasy fan or just enjoy great rhythm games with fantastic music, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is certainly for you. Although the RPG elements feel a bit wasted, the varied gameplay options, scaled difficulty settings, and plethora of unlockable goodies still make for an excellent rhythm experience.

  • In addition to the addicting gameplay and RPG elements, the game has a steady stream of nostalgia headed your way. Like I said earlier, Theatrhythm actually did the impossible and made me look back fondly on my time with Final Fantasy XIII, which is impressive because I didn't think the soundtrack to that game was particularly impressive until I had the chance to give the tracks a more thorough listen in this title.

  • Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy is a simple music game. But, for someone who grew up with these myths wallpapering their imagination, it is a complex vehicle for emotion. Final Fantasy may be a loose, somewhat obnoxious umbrella term for a collection of games of mixed message and quality, but Theatrhythm succeeds in touching upon some true magic within its bounds.
