- Fire Emblem: Awakening is everything its predecessors was and more, with a in-depth battle system, satisfying visuals, intriguing story, an enjoyably wide array of characters and interactions it has risen above all the expectations and truly made a benchmark in strategy games. It’s one of those games that really make the 3DS a console worth owning and stands on the top of on the growing list of amazing games released for the 3D handheld.
Daniel Bowes · Nov 28, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Awakening offers an excellent game of strategy, but it’s the relationship system that makes it
Edge Staff · Apr 16, 2013 Reviewed on 3DS - As a Fire Emblem newbie, then, I’m now a fully-fledged convert. Intelligent Systems has never shown a weakness in its strategical prowess, but the fact it also has strong storytelling and characterisation chops came as a pleasant, if not entirely unexpected, treat. Now let’s get cracking on a new Advance Wars as well eh chaps?
Jon Denton · Apr 11, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - This latest entry into the Fire Emblem series has the head banging, emotion stirring and deep gameplay of previous entries, but Nintendo has made sure to include some new options allowing so many other people to enjoy this series. Not to mention that the production values are pretty much second to none. This is one game that all 3DS owners should definitely consider, and for fans of the Fire Emblem series purchasing it is a no brainer as there is really not a lot to complain about here.
Kirby Yablonski · Feb 02, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - The fun, tactical combat, the character-driven relationships, and the greater feeling of freedom combine to make Awakening the best installment of this beloved series in a long time. Anyone looking for a fantastic strategy game or a long, engaging adventure perfect for on-the-go sessions should absolutely not overlook this gaming gem.
Heidi Kemps · Feb 01, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Fire Emblem Awakening is the best of its class, and a necessary, non-negotiable addition to any 3DS library.
Audrey Drake · Jan 30, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - While Fire Emblem: Awakening may not turn the notch up to 11, it's everything that's right about strategy RPGs. Whatever options you choose to go with at the beginning of the game, it's either one of the most accessible strategy games to date, or one of the most difficult.
Chris Carter · Jan 30, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Who knows, with practice a beginner might even come around to the whole perma-death challenge thing. While the multiplayer options may be a little iffy depending on your circumstances, the sheer amount of quality content and replay value make this one icon sure to spend a long time on your 3DS menu. Have no fear: Fire Emblem: Awakening is here.
Jon Wahlgren · Jan 30, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Fire Emblem: Awakening ends up being the first entry in a long while to really nail the franchise's formula. The in-depth strategy, creative use of asynchronous multiplayer, and host of bonus content are all enough to recommend it to fans and non-fans alike. For once, don't let the spectre of permadeath deter you from this classic series. Fire Emblem: Awakening is the best RPG on the Nintendo 3DS to date.
Kathryn Bailey · Jan 30, 2013 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Small criticisms aside, Fire Emblem: Awakening will have you hooked from the very beginning, and will be incredibly hard to put down throughout. You'll always want to take just one more turn to build more relationships, gain a level, forge a new item, and see what will happen next in the gripping narrative. There are a lot of characters, a lot of content, near perfect technical skills, and plenty of incentives to return even after you've completed the campaign.
