- The original game exists and changing things can be a scary proposition to fans. Motive Studio has done an outstanding job of tweaking what worked and fixing what didn’t. This remake is on the same level as Capcom’s efforts with Resident Evil and will be considered one of the best going forward.

If combat doesn't scare you, then you can always turn on the Impossible difficulty setting where if you die once then it's game over (the remake has helpfully added the option to continue playing at reduced difficulty, the original would just delete your save entirely).

Managing to take what was already a superb game and make it even better. Although, a couple of extra tweaks really could have brought it to the next level. The Dead Space remake stands up there with Resident Evil in “how to do a remake”, and it’s one that I highly recommend for fans and newcomers alike.

It was brought to life in a new engine with updated mechanics while staying true to the source material, and it looks beautiful when you play it. The combat, the exploration, the side quests, everything was meticulously put together in this remake to make it better than the original.

Everything you remember about the original is here, but better, with visceral combat encounters, intricate puzzles, and an extended narrative. This is not to mention the beautifully terrifying visuals, immaculate atmosphere building, and excellent technical performance that act as cherries on top. It’s without a doubt that this is the definitive way to enjoy one of the best survival horror experiences of all time.

They have not only enhanced the look of the game but have tweaked the map and added side missions, dialogue, and even an alternate ending. I loved the lack of load screens as being able to load up at a save station and move directly into a new chapter without a wait was amazing.
