- It's icky at times, but Madden 17 is definitely a step up. If you skipped a year, now is probably the time to come back around. Coming back around? Kind of like the Ravens, who have an open path to the playoffs again with a healthy Flacco. You heard it here first, folks.
Chris Carter · Sep 12, 2016 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - EA Tiburon has done a great job of rehabilitating the fading Madden brand, with Madden 17 being the culmination of their efforts. Everything they've tried to accomplish over the past couple years is on display, from the revamped blocking to the smarter franchise mode. There are certainly plenty of issues left to address; but for now, Madden NFL 17 is a very solid football game.
Kat Bailey · Sep 09, 2016 Reviewed on PS4 - Madden NFL 17 isn’t leaps and bounds ahead of what EA Tiburon was able to accomplish last year, but it builds on a very solid foundation with only a few hiccups and annoyances to speak of. Hardcore fans will take kindly to the gameplay changes while newcomers will have a lot to learn in the tutorial sections as well. Regardless of your skill level, there’s something here for everyone.
Charles Blades · Sep 01, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Madden NFL 17 feels like the largest jump in the franchise since Madden NFL 10. A lot of the issues I had with past games has been addressed, and I can easily see myself sinking another 60 hours into franchise mode as I take my Raiders to their back-to-back Super Bowls. Fans that may have fallen off in recent years will find plenty to come back to with this iteration.
Ken McKown · Aug 25, 2016 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - New features may need a little more balancing to be effective online, but overall, Madden NFL 17 is the most polished and enjoyable Madden yet, magnificently avoiding a potential regression after the successes of the year prior.
Ray Carsillo · Aug 24, 2016 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - If you’re used to buying Madden every other year or every few years, 17 is certainly worth your money. The jump from 16 to 17 isn’t drastic but the proof is certainly in the running back pudding, and boy is it good. Everything else is elementary at this point.
Patrick Tretina · Aug 23, 2016 Reviewed on PS4, XB1, PS3, X360Read full review - Rather than deriding this latest Madden for featuring more of the same features from previous years, there's instead comfort in the familiarity of trusted and refined features like weekly updates and the comprehensive Skills Trainer. Save for the aforementioned play-calling bug and the loading times, this is the most accessible and welcoming Madden in this console generation, which is an accomplishment for a sport that can appear complicated at first glance.
Miguel Concepcion · Aug 23, 2016 Reviewed on PS4, XB1Read full review - hile I agree Madden 17 isn't a leap forward, the fact that it rides Madden 16's coattails while creating its own (thanks to the commentary system and some of the trench play) doesn't make it a bad title. If you asked me which I'd rather have – a new franchise mode or the improved line play that's now in the game, it's hard to ignore what I've actually experienced versus a hypothetical. The game is better because of it, and there's no going back.
Matthew Kato · Aug 23, 2016 Reviewed on PS4 - It always takes a few years for a sports franchises to settle into a good groove on the latest consoles, and it would appear that idea has held true for Madden NFL 17. This year's entry is among the best the franchise has seen in terms of accessibility, and all the new tweaks added should make it a strong favorite among loyal players, too. There likely will never be a perfect Madden NFL game, but this version comes very close to that ideal indeed.
Luke Brown · Aug 23, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - While not without its flaws, Madden NFL 17 is still a very enjoyable experience. Enough changes have been made to the formula to make it a more interesting and realistic experience, which in turn makes it more enjoyable to play. While minor gameplay and menu problems do hold it back from greatness, most of the game is very well made.
