- NieR: Automata is the kind of game with a strange magical power that’ll warp you back to your favorite childhood game, then imprint itself upon your memory so that whenever you see a metal trash can, you’ll swear you heard it say, “this cannot continue.”
Des Miller · Nov 04, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - While The End of YoRHa Edition probably isn’t the definitive way to play Yoko Taro’s masterpiece, what you’re getting here is still an expectation-defying port of a fantastic game.
SebastiaanRaats · Oct 13, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - NieR: Automata‘s gameplay somewhat holds up, but there are other elements that bring this version down. For one, the gameplay itself isn’t suited for a portable, with smaller details just disappearing in the middle of the smaller screen, and the lack of “save anywhere” functionality going against the “pick up and play” nature of a portable.
Leo Faria · Oct 11, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The game itself is certainly not perfect, what with its sometimes shallow combat and instances of heavy-handed messaging, but it usually illustrates its intentions splendidly. Plus, the former is made up for with sheer variety and eye-catching animation.
Orpheus Joshua · Oct 11, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - NieR: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition takes one of the best games ever made and turns it into a miraculous, portable experience. While 30 fps may seem like a downgrade, you won’t even feel the difference after a few minutes and the sacrifice is more than worth it. The new costumes are a great way to freshen up the game, but this version does lack some of the older cosmetics still exclusive to other versions.
David Flynn · Oct 09, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It's a matter of preference - visual fidelity or ease of access? - and at the heart of the matter, it's simply about how players want to engage in one of the best video games of the past decade. There's no wrong choice, but it's certainly appreciated that there are now so many to pick from.
Cody Gravelle · Oct 06, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Players who missed it the first time around have a chance to finally experience everything NieR: Automata has to offer in a portable and shiny, though slightly uglier, package.
Shane Robert Moyer · Oct 04, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - NieR:Automata is a modern classic. Most importantly for Switch owners, this is a top-notch port that has clearly been produced with respect and focus, often surpassing our expectations in both visuals and performance.
Thomas Whitehead · Oct 03, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - NieR: Automata The End of YoRHa is an amazing package that has been wonderfully ported to the Switch. Those who haven’t played it previously have another opportunity to experience the remarkable epic, whereas the lure of a handheld version may also tempt aficionados back to this sensational hack and slash RPG.
Jaz Sagoo · Oct 03, 2022 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - This might be the best third-party Switch port I’ve ever played, which makes it incredibly easy to recommend this game to anyone who has never played it before. There are simply no two ways about it: NieR Automata was a triumph of design in 2017, and it is a triumph of porting big games to Switch in 2022.
