Polyarc, developers behind the Moss franchise, celebrates the launch of the Meta Quest 3S with new updates for Moss and Moss: Book II.

The free updates will be available for Meta Quest 3 and 3S users. It includes enhanced visuals, a combat skip feature, and several quality-of-life improvements.

Polyarc’s lead engineer, Brendan Walker, showcased these enhancements in an unboxing video of the Quest 3S, offering a glimpse into the technical improvements players can expect.

Moss gets the biggest visual overhaul compared to its sequel, which has not received a major update since Quest 1. With the power of the Quest 3S, Moss will now be rendered at 150% of its original resolution, boasting improved lighting, realistic water effects, and animated book pages.

This ultimately brings it in line with the visual fidelity of Moss: Book II.

Both games will feature an ability to skip combat. This enables players to bypass combat encounters so they can enjoy a more relaxed, story-driven experience. It makes the primary focus the exploration and puzzles rather than fighting.

This update is a huge win for new VR users or those who may not enjoy combat. It ensures they can still immerse themselves in the narrative adventure with Quill, the franchise's beloved protagonist.

‘Moss’ and ‘Moss: Book II’ Celebrate Meta Quest 3S Launch With Major Updates

Last night during Sony’s September State of Play, NACON and Rogue Factor premiered the first gameplay trailer for their action-adventure game, Hell is Us.

The trailer offered fans a glimpse into the intense world of this third-person adventure, showcasing its minimalist UI and strange atmosphere. Check it out below:

Hell is Us, or HiU is set in a country devastated by civil war. Players follow a protagonist on a journey to uncover the truth about his past while facing otherworldly threats. These eerie creatures, resembling ancient monuments, are shrouded in mystery. Players will be armed with special weapons to defeat these horrors, making each encounter a strategic and satisfying challenge.

Despite not being branded a soulslike, its gameplay heavily relies on dodging and swinging giant weapons.

The game’s standout features, apart from its energetic gameplay, are its unique design approach called ‘player-platerring.’ Unlike conventional games that provide detailed maps and quest markers, Hell is Us removes such aids. This encourages players to explore, think, and rely on their intuition to navigate its mysterious world. As a result, this makes Hell is Us a deeply immersive adventure.

This ‘no hand holding’ design philosophy goes back to old-school adventure games, where exploration and puzzle-solving took center stage. For more information about this novelty, check out their exclusive PlayStation Blogpost here.

Creative Director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête has also announced a follow-up event on September 30, inviting fans to tune into NACON’s YouTube channel at 5 p.m. CEST for an in-depth look at the game.

Hell is Us is set to release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. For more upcoming games, check out our 2025 Upcoming Games Release Schedule

Two Point Museum Set to Open Its Doors Next Year, Pre-Orders Now Live

In an unexpected announcement, Bandai Namco Europe has unveiled that they are working on Freedom Wars Remastered, a revamped version of the hit PlayStation Vita action game. It is set to launch on January 10, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.

Released back in October 2014, Freedom Wars takes place in a dystopian future where humanity is confined to a massive prison-slash-city called Panopticons. It is a bleak and oppressive place where living is a crime punished by a million-year sentence.

They must fight for their freedom by engaging in dangerous combat operations and competing with other Panopticons for the planet's remaining resources.

The remastered version promises enhanced 4K resolution, upgraded textures, 60fps gameplay, and improved weapon crafting, along with added difficulty settings. Additionally, it features an expanded English and Japanese voice acting, namely with its cast of Android characters.

Players can expect the return of its dynamic three-dimensional combat. It now comes with a variety of quality of life improvements that make its third-person combat a bit modernized. Gameplay is often compared to the likes of CAPCOM’s Monster Hunter franchise and even Bandai Namco’s very own God Eater series.

Like the original, the remaster also comes with the return of its multiplayer. Online co-op missions allow up to four players to band together in a fight to reduce their prison sentence and survive the harsh conditions.

Freedom Wars: Remastered maintains the game’s original combat. Players still assume the role of ‘Sinners’ with their set of guns and a special ability called Thorns. These are capable of traversing the environment, subduing enemies, and severing limbs for valuable resources.

The game is now available to wishlist on Steam. Pre-orders for console versions will be announced soon.

Funko Fusion, like its collection of physical toys, features nods to pop culture classics like Jurassic World, Back to the Future, The Umbrella Academy, Masters of the Universe, and more. Characters such as Mega Man, Freddy Fazbear (Five Nights at Freddy’s), and He-Man come together to battle against Eddy Funko in a bid to stop his dreams of total domination.

Built for kids and kids at heart, the game takes players to explore their favorite iconic worlds via the Wonder Works Factory. Once outside, they embark on a journey packed with puzzles, battles, and fan-favorite characters from popular franchises.

It was released a few days ago but the feedback has been less than stellar, with reviewers like CGMagazine calling it ‘an ultimately boring’ title. It received subpar scores of 6’s and 7’s. Even IGN gave it a staggeringly low score of 4, stating that ‘[it] contains precious little in the way of interesting new ideas.’

Ultimately, the game received a playscore of 6.8 on PlayStation 5, with the PC version receiving a 6.5 gamerscore from other players.

Despite its middling reviews, Funko Fusion has enough charm to lure in kids that enjoy these franchises coming together. Twinfinite scored a 7 on their review saying that ‘there’s enough charm here that even if you’re tangentially invested, you’ll have a good time.’

Older fans, however, are better off fnding game adaptations of these franchises through the Game Finder

Anyone can still try out the game before purchasing to make their own informed decision. A PC demo is still available on Steam, offering a sneak peek into levels inspired by the 1982 horror classic The Thing.

Funko Fusion is available digitally for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam, with physical console editions also on sale. A PlayStation 4 version will be released on November 15, with a Nintendo Switch edition launching digitally in December and physically in March 2025.

Funko Fusion Launches with Middling Reviews Across Platforms

Analgesic Productions, creators behind the acclaimed Anodyne series, announced a new trailer for their upcoming game Danchi Days. It is a cute and cozy adventure that invites players to relive the magic of a Japanese summer festival during the year 2000, or Y2K.

Check out the trailer here:

Players step into the shoes of Hoshino who is determined to revive the once-thriving summer festival in a danchi, a Japanese housing complex. Like the good ol’ days of Y2K, players can surf the internet and uncover the quirks and desires of their neighbors.

Hoshino’s goal throughout the game is to invite neighbors to join in on the festival. There are over 151 characters from all walks of life available to recruit.

Along the way, players will also encounter a variety of challenges and heartwarming stories from various NPCs. Which means that while some festival-goers may readily accept the invitation, others will need a little encouragement.

As Hoshino, you have heightened ‘senses’ that will prove useful in observing their surroundings and finding hidden details to know more about other characters.

Danchi Days oozes nostalgia with its stylistic retro charm thanks to the artwork from independent illustrator mogumu.

Danchi Days draws inspiration from beloved titles like Hamtaro, EarthBound, and MOON Remix RPG. It promises to be a delightful journey for fans of Y2K and GBA-era games.

As a result, it exudes an oddly reminiscent period where everyone was playing Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance for the first time.

The game is slated for a 2026 release for Windows/Mac on Steam, Itch, GOG. Users on Steam can already wishlist the game today.
