Top 25 Best PS3 Games of All Time

This week’s latest gaming news was in anticipation of Xbox’s upcoming console, the Xbox Series X. In this list, we talk about the first games coming out of their most powerful console yet.

1. Bright Memory Infinite

No, it’s not futuristic Call of Duty. Created from the ground up by one man, this fast-paced shooter builds its own identity by mixing a sprawling metropolis with an oriental motif. Not only does it wow you with its impressive shooting action, but it also takes you to the far future where a mysterious supernatural event causes a rift between two worlds.

As for its performance in the Xbox’s upcoming console, expect stunning visual effects in its high-speed 3D combat. No release date yet.

2. Dirt 5

As if there isn’t any surprise. There’s always a Triple-A racing game coming out in every major console release. It's certainly different from its spin-off, Dirt Rally, and this time it promises even more variety than ever before.

According to Codemasters themselves, the game’s newest feature can let players customize their car’s paint schemes to an extent. In addition to that, this next-generation racing title adds more detailed environments that feature snow, mud, and ice. This off-road racer is slated for an October release date on modern consoles, but its Series X version comes out sometime next year.

3. Scorn

This first-person shooter feels like it came from H.R. Giger’s handiwork. In this dreamlike hellhole, explore a vast and labyrinthian world completely uninterrupted in its atmospheric storytelling.

Make your way through this perplexing science fiction maze and remain vigilant to your surroundings. Its interesting ‘full body awareness’ feature adds a whole new level of immersion to your journey. Although it’s not a pure survival-horror experience, resource management is a must. The world of Scorn is boundless in terror, but ammo and inventory are barely enough for this quest.

No release date yet.

4. Chorus

Stylized as Chorus with a V, this new space combat shooter from developer Deep Silver Fishlabs sends you to the infinite void of the universe as a one-man army with a powerful space ship. Play two protagonists, an ex-pilot with a dark past, and the sentient AI that powers your spaceship. Together, these two go on a quest of redemption and uncover the deeper mysteries of space through epic zero-gravity dogfights.

Chorus supports Xbox’s ‘Smart Delivery’ feature as well. This means purchasing the game once can let you play on both Xbox One and Series X consoles. No definite release date yet, but it’s slated to come out this 2021.

5. Madden NFL ‘21

The annual celebration of America’s greatest pastime continues with this next chapter of the Madden NFL series from EA. This is the first Madden game to come out on next-generation consoles and as usual, they promise even bigger features that put Football fans at the edge of their seats. However, they didn’t specify enough details yet.

Like the rest of the games in this list, this is also Optimized for the Series X with Xbox’s ‘Smart Delivery’ feature. Unfortunately, knowing EA, it has a deadline. You have to purchase Madden NFL 21 on Xbox One by December 31st and upgrade to the next-gen console by March 31st, 2021 so you can play the game on both consoles.

No release date yet.

6. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

We’ve been talking about this game since last year and looks like Hardsuit Labs' Bloodlines 2 is finally nearing its release soon. Continue your vampiric adventures in the 21st century and settle into the underworld gloom of nighttime Seattle. This is a follow up to the 2004 cult classic which dates back from the tabletop games of White Wolf publishing,

The latest trailer dazzles you with its groovy presentation of vampiric horror, as well as a few gameplay snippets that make you feel like you’re a superhuman with morals. As an RPG, whatever path you choose remains a massive part of Vampire's gameplay and story.

No release date yet.

7. Call Of The Sea

It’s huge when an indie game gets a promotion from Microsoft itself. Set in the great South Pacific in the 1930s, this otherworldly adventure by developer Out of the Blue takes you to a lost civilization in search of your missing husband.

Gameplay-wise, it’s simple. The player explores a lush paradise teeming with the occult. Solve puzzles and find out the secrets of this island. Piece together what happened in its casual first-person adventure. No release date yet.

8. The Ascent

Looks like there’s another Cyberpunk game coming out very soon. Neon Giant’s very-own take on the genre lets you go on a solo or co-op mission with a buddy. It’s no easy feat since The Ascent takes place in a massive structure and your mission is to escape this mega-corporation owned tower from hostile thugs and police.

Played from an isometric perspective, you shoot and loot your way to freedom. You could customize your character with enhanced cyber gear and more to improve your chances of survival. It comes out sometime this 2020.

9. The Medium

The Bloober Team is on a roll with their creative first-person horror titles. After their success with Layers of Fear, Observer, and the latest Blair Witch game, they move even further to their horror path to create The Medium.

It feels like a spiritual successor to KONAMI’s beloved Silent Hill series and it takes place in an alternate version of Poland. Like many of Bloober Team’s themes, the horror element here is how our perspective changes our perception. It’s built on iconic psychological horror tropes and not to mention the original Silent Hill composer, Akira Yamaoka, is handling the score. It's their most ambitious project to date and it’s slated for a Holiday 2020 release.

10. SCARLET NEXUS

Bandai Namco also joins in the Series X hype with their latest IP. This psionic-powered title contains all the things Bandai Namco’s games were known for: fast-paced hack and slash action and cel-shaded animations.

Taking place in a futuristic city, you assume the role of a young boy in training to become an Elite Psionic. When an otherworldly threat has invaded this precious city, it’s your job to take them down with style. Manipulating the environment to take down these hostile creatures is the best thing about this new title. No release date yet.

11. Second Extinction - Reclaim Earth

This was a pleasant surprise during the #InsideXbox presentation. This new IP from Systemic Reaction is a three-player co-op adventure that lets you face against a horde of mutated dinosaurs that roam the planet.

Teamwork is a vital part of this shooter. A combination of weapons, items, and abilities are required to survive its relentless waves of bloodthirsty creatures. All in the effort to reclaim Earth. The game will have a closed beta test on Steam this summer.

No release date yet, unfortunately.

12. Yakuza: Like A Dragon

A whole new Yakuza story is forged in this eighth mainline entry. For the first time in the series, the game no longer centers around Kazuma Kiryu as the main character and it’s now taking place in a fictional recreation of Kabukicho instead of Tokyo.

Also the biggest change in Like A Dragon is the shift from beat ‘em up combat to turn-based style gameplay. It’s still the JRPG everyone knows and loves, especially its wide selection of ridiculous side quests. It’s coming out sometime this Holiday 2020.

13. Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla

Valhalla, at last. The most anticipated Ubisoft game finally has a name. Moving away from Ancient Greek and Egyptian Civilizations, the Assassin’s enter the Viking Age.

The third of their Mythology series, players take control of a legendary Viking warrior named Eivor as they raid and pillage Europe in order to survive. The #InsideXbox event showcased Valhalla’s scale. They released a ‘’gameplay’’ trailer that highlights the best things to come in this entry.

Game Director Ashraf Ishmail discussed the new features of the game including the return of the hidden blade, dual-wielding weapons, and intense siege battles. This Scandinavian trip looks even better with the Xbox Series X’s technical capabilities.

It’s coming out this Holiday 2020 for modern consoles.

13 Upcoming Xbox Series X Optimized Games

See the full lineup with our list of all the best PC VR games.

10. Trover Saves the Universe

If you in any way enjoyed the antics of Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon in Rick and Morty, this game is easy to recommend. But, if you're just looking for choice picks for the index, it's a pretty good ride too. And a ride it is since you stay mostly stay seated through the whole experience, while your purple friend Trover guides you around the crazy world, where saving your pups is your primary concern.

As with Rick and Morty, expect awkward, bizarre humor and some existential dilemmas too. The least of which is the PS4 controller you'll have in your hand. Without any actual interactions for Valve's nifty finger tracking knuckle controller, it's not fully equipped for the platform. However, with enough PC horsepower, it translates to a lot more immersion for its, frankly, very short playtime.

Its hilarity though seems universal and it has a playscore of 8.37

9. Overload

Some of you may already know about the 90s classic Descent, and you might recognize this game as its revival in the world of virtual reality. Brought to us by the same ones who made the original game, this spiritual successor was sure to capture the high octane atmosphere of the iconic shooter.

It's six degrees of freedom, with a 15 level singleplayer campaign, all presented using today's visual feats. It's a liberating feeling on the platform, and there's so much action to get through. Like annihilating robots, rescuing hostages and so much more.

Aside from the campaign, there's also the public and private multiplayer matches where you can take your friends along for the ride. It's not all that different on Valve's new VR system, but it remains available to any fan of Descent, 6 degrees of freedom, and the like.

Packed with replayability and futuristic thrills, Overload receives a playscore of 8.39

8. The Lab

As a free game offered to showcase the wonders of VR, it's no surprise that it's one of the first games to take the world by storm. The Lab welcomed us into a friendlier Aperture Labs filled with minigames and pocket universes that show us the depth of virtual reality fun.

From taking care of bionic canines and repairing robots, to archery practice and exploring human anatomies. It was a benchmark for the platform, and it still is. Now that Valve itself has its own VR platform, The Lab was bound for an overhaul to showcase the Index's best features.

With the hands-on update, comes full support for the finger tracking system, as well as adjustments to its physics and interactions. Meaning, hand grips for archery, improved pats for the robot canine and maybe exploring the eye sockets of random skulls.

Adding more fun to the most downloaded game yet, it's still top of the charts on the Index with a score of 8.4

7. Beat Saber

It's only fitting that one of the first games we loved and adored on the VR platform makes it into this list for Valve's second-gen platform. A rhythm game for the VR from developer Hyperbolic Magnetism, its surrealistic neon environment and notable use of red and blue sabers has made it an icon, not just for rhythm enthusiasts, but also for fans of George Lucas' famous space opera.

It's simple, easy for everyone to get into, and very tempting to master--whether for leaderboard success or just...to look cool. But, if you're coming from other VR systems, the Index reduces some of the heft of previous-gen controllers.

The new knuckle grips, which provide accurate feedback for individual fingers, might take a lot of getting used to, for some. But, there's plenty of ways to adjust your grips for the perfect saber slice. In any case, it's a small price to pay for the bumps up in audio and performance.

It has a playscore of 8.42

6. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

Released just last January 2020, this game from Skydance Entertainment is one of the latest waves of VR titles coming out for the platform and we see just how much we've leveled up in terms of immersion and playthroughs.

In Saints and Sinners we get a first-hand look at how it actually feels like to live in the post-apocalyptic world of the Walking Dead. Instead of mindless zombie shooting, we get a test of our survival strategies with its sim-like features that require you to think about weapon weights and stamina, hunger and food safety--all on top of the moral quandaries that come with existing alongside survivors.

The way you deal with the undead has consequences too. While it’s tempting to dive into hordes guns blazing, the noise you make could attract more than you can take, and end up just like them. Thankfully, there's plenty of weapons to choose from, for silent kills and close combat annihilation. It incorporates the features of the Index, and it even has a lengthy 15-hour playthrough.

Clearly, this was one of the first premier examples of a new-gen VR and it earns its playscore of 8.48

5. Rez Infinite

This revival of SEGA's on-rails shooter has already been known to be quite a trippy experience since its release on the PS4 in 2016. Now, four years after, the experience just gets better especially now with Valve's newly unleashed next-gen VR platform.

Rez has all these dazzling lights and rhythmic techno music, and with the Index, its strongest features are heightened, letting you dive unrestricted through their land of digital synesthesia. On the other hand, Rez on the Index isn't much removed from what you would get on other platforms.

There doesn't seem to be much support for its knuckle based gestures in-game. But it doesn't change the fact that Rez Infinite was basically made for VR. And If you want to make the most out of your investment, this game should definitely be on the list.

It has a playscore of 8.49

4. A Fisherman's Tale

Released early in 2019, Innerspace's VR adventure was one in a wave of virtual reality games that pushed the boundaries of the genre. First in terms of visuals, but most especially in its gameplay. Scale--and not the fish kind--form the heart of this fisherman's tale, as he navigates a lighthouse that exists between planes of gigantic and minuscule proportions.

It's an interactive puzzle game like no other. Play around with the objects around the lighthouse, and think in terms of bigger and smaller to solve the puzzles in each enchanting. With only 5 chapters and a runtime of at most 2 hours, it's a pretty short game, and it's one of the game's biggest gripes. Then again, it's a magical two hours that draws you into a quirky and captivating story.

It was known for supporting almost every VR platform, and finally it's on the Valve Index with a playscore of 8.54

3. SUPERHOT VR

The hottest game from the 2016 wave of VR releases has been brought into the new-gen with updates to their bullet-time action. No, we're not getting any new levels to the incredible but short shooting experience. However, the game's integration of the finger tracking tech--not just visually, but also in terms of object interaction--actually adds a lot to the VR immersion.

Its minimalist, fast-paced, and stylized shoot-outs give you an added rush when you know you have full control of the environment. Grabbing guns mid-air, hurling coffee cups at faceless humanoid embers, and karate-chopping them into oblivion. SUPERHOT was one of the most innovative games of its time, and as it integrates new tech into their game, they're making sure they're still on our minds with the coming of the new VR age.

Thanks to their continued dedication and their gorgeous clean-cut graphics, it receives a playscore of 8.76

2. GORN

A world away from last game's sleek and smooth, this Roman arena simulator from developer Free Lives goes for gory silliness and it's definitely as fun as it sounds. Devolver Digital may have done the bare minimum of supporting the Index's knuckle controller, it doesn't really make much of a dent to something as widely loved as this gladiatorial VR game.

Knowing how much mindless violence sells, they capitalized on the whole venture well, giving us a whole array of weapons to experiment with. Whether its basic swords and maces, or wolverine claws...and, yes, even crab claws. All of which you can use on their continuous supply of flailing meatheads to bash, scratch, amputate, and gorge.

Even though it's far from realistic--with its rubbery weapons and exaggerated physics--the game offers so much satisfaction for players who just want to sit back and let their sadistic sides reign.

Winning hearts, by letting you rip out hearts, it gets a playscore of 8.78

1. Half-Life: Alyx

Fans may have had their doubts when Valve announced this follow-up to their critically acclaimed sci-fi shooter, but they pretty much blew the VR competition out of the water. Not just as one of the most technically advanced and fully-featured virtual reality experiences right now, but also as what can be considered one of the best titles of the franchise yet.

It's a prequel set between Half Life 1 and Half Life 2, and in Alyx Vance's shoes we get sucked into City 17, a world that's familiar, deeply terrifying, and ultimately, almost real.

Like Attack of the Fanboy says "Everything feels right in Half-Life: Alyx, from the weight of my pistol, to the way objects scatter as I rummage through drawers for ammo and resin."

Valve is heaped praise for delivering a delicate balancing act of unprecedented graphical quality, believable physics, and intuitive controls--all into a storyline that's filled with the puzzles and personalities that made Half-Life a worthy adventure.

Probably the best in VR yet, it has a playscore of 9.49

The release of the new virtual reality headset by Valve caused is a big step towards a better #VR gaming experience. We rank the 10 best virtual reality games that you can play on the new Valve Index. This ranking is based on the #playscore, a rating that combines critic and gamer reviews.

25. F1 2019

Right before the imminent arrival of their upcoming installment, Codemasters clearly retains the quality of the series with their last entry still rising up the all-time charts. With Improved handling and physics, new cars, plus a dynamic day-and-night cycle, F1 2019 is the best formula one experience yet, receiving a playscore of 8.61

24. Dragon Age: Inquisition

Some things just last and that goes for this entry to BioWare's Dragon Age saga. Though it's known to have more than a bit of filler content and MMO grinding, the purchase is worth it if only to experience its open-world of epic hero journeys and intriguing companions. Even for a game that's more than 5 years old, the visuals still feel spectacular to this day.

It has a playscore of 8.61

23. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove

Still on the same numbers: After 6 long years, the Shovel Knight saga is finally completed. And people who supported Yacht Club Games since the beginning are awarded a literal treasure trove of unique adventures and an all-new game mode. For its many fans and longtime backers, this will be an 8-bit platformer at its most complete, and it doesn't take much to know that it's worth every last penny.

It has a score of 8.61

22. Life is Strange: Before the Storm

Arcadia Bay wouldn’t be the same without Chloe Price. Before she turned her hair blue, she was still the same stubborn girl that befriended Rachel Amber. Developed by Deck Nine, this game takes us back before the storms of Chloe and Max's tragic relationship. It's not from the same studio but it packs the heartfelt emotionality that we loved from the first game.

It's only slightly ahead with a score of 8.62

21. Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition

An early addition to the Diablo III title, Ultimate Evil Edition added smooth framerates and resolutions, as well as the Reaper of Souls expansion's new character class and fifth act. It might not seem like much now, but in its time, it was just the revamp that the series needed. It may not include the Rise of the Necromancer content pack, but it's an investment you can always opt for. The appeal for multiplayer loot collection is as strong as ever, and with Diablo IV still looming vaguely on the horizon, this could still be a strong bet on the console.

It has a playscore of 8.63

20. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

In the latest installment of the massively popular FPS franchise, Infinity Ward takes us back to the roots of the series with a reboot of their Modern Warfare sub-series. The reception may have been mixed before release, but it proved itself worthy of the name, gaining praise for gameplay, story, graphics and their multiplayer modes.

Now a record-breaking series title, it's well-loved on the Xbox One too with a score of 8.65

19. Cuphead

The scourge on casual gamers and gamer journalists alike. But, the appeal of Studio MDHR's platformer begins even before you even start playing. Inspired by the sometimes grim cartoons of the early 20th century, Cuphead is pure joy to witness. It might be a little too hard for some casual players, it's still fun to enjoy it as a co-op experience, or brutal but beautiful battle for those super marks.

It has a playscore of 8.65

18. Fallout 4

Taking the cake for exploration and combat, Bethesda's Fallout 4 had everything that made the Fallout series great and more. This time, in a radioactive Boston that enables you to build bases, horde items, meet quirky characters and make tough decisions. That, along with the scores of mods you can install and try out, There may have been plenty of issues, but it's nothing against all the things you can do to while the hours away.

It receives a score of 8.66

Presented in today's eye-popping HD visuals, there's obviously still a lot to love about this classic game, with a score of 8.74

12. Rise of the Tomb Raider

Rebooting Lara Croft's adventures may have been a risk but it all paid for Crystal Dynamics, and most especially in this exceptional sequel. The rise was a massive upgrade from the first game. Not only did it have more versatile combat, but its gunplay was also fantastic. Most of all, the cinematic punches of its story drove home the fact that Lara Croft is here in the modern age, and she's here to stay.

It has a playscore of 8.78

11. Mortal Kombat 11

NetherRealm has culminated years of gory tradition into one ultimate Mortal Kombat fighting experience. Sure, it's still the campy and gratuitously gory game we always loved. But, with the time travel twist of their storyline, we also get to witness the return of old characters, as well as their new crop of fierce new fighters. All of them making use of bumped up features like repurposed Xrays, fatal blows, and so much more.

With still more coming in new patches, it's an all-time hit with a score of 8.81

10. Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition

It's one thing to bring back classics in HD, it's another to completely revamp it into something new but familiar. It's what Larian Studios is known for doing in their RPG series, and it continues to be a poster boy for that blend of modern and traditional. The sequel isn't the best avenue for newcomers to the series, but this definitive edition especially is a haven of new features--multiplayer, GM mode, fleshed out storylines--that round up the already excellent RPG experience.

It has a playscore of 8.82

9. GEARS 5

This entry from The Coalition saw them rebranding in more ways than one. Not just in name, but also in its shift away from war for humanity and into the exploration of an open world that's bigger and unbelievably more gorgeous than ever before.

It sets the standard for Microsoft's next-gen exclusives and it receives a playscore of 8.82

A shining example of videogame as art, PlayDead's next puzzle platformer has the same minimalist style, but this time, dedicated to portraying an Orwellian dystopia. It perfectly captures a world of dread and hopelessness and tells the story of a boy who accidentally discovers all its dark secrets.

7. Ori and the Blind Forest

The sequel might be out, but while it was close, it’s yet to hold a candle to the majesty of the original. Developed by Moon Studios, Ori has been a remarkable presence on the Microsoft stage, impressing in terms of charming backdrops, challenging platforming, and emotional storytelling. Ori's enchanted decaying forest has become an icon, giving birth to a sequel that almost equals it, and perhaps even more than that.

Simple but oh so memorable, it earns a score of 8.92

6. Grand Theft Auto V

Without even the slightest hint of confirmation for a new entry, this 5th installment from 2014 continues to reign supreme. From one of the pioneers of the open-world genre, GTA V almost feels like the height of perfection, rolling 3 stories into one explosive criminal adventure. And, even after the story, there are still hours of sociopathic fun to be had in their online mode.

Going strong after so many years, it has a playscore of 8.99

CAPCOM seems to have found the winning formula for their resident evil reboot series. While Resident Evil 3 may have that balance of horror and adrenaline-pumping action, this entry was a pure concoction of the survival horror they built their name on. With Leon and Claire's revamped gameplay and elevated storyline, CAPCOM impressed not just long-time fans but newcomers to the series too.

It earns its score of 9.03

4. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

It's been five years, and it looks like we haven't seen the last of this final chapter to the bewitching Witcher saga yet. On top of the fantasy action of finding the sword of destiny, CD Projekt RED's The Witcher 3 was just one breathtaking sight after the next. Even with Gwent already out on its own, its world of fictional medieval political conspiracies has so much to offer still.

It has a score of 9.06

3. Forza Motorsport 7

It has been a while since the last Motorsport title, and with the Series X out, it probably won't be long till then. Meanwhile, Motorsport 7 remains the go-to for a jaw-dropping racing experience on the Microsoft console.
2. Forza Horizon 4

Still under the same Forza banner, this is the latest in Turn 10's offering of open-world racing and it's showered with just the same quality and polish as all the rest. Ride around their noticeably less gray version of the British Isles, collect up to 450 powerful and luxurious cars, and share the roads with other racers. Forza's always been about the wow factor, and you can have it here, whichever road you take.

A playscore of 9.25

1. Red Dead Redemption 2

It hasn't been long since RDR2 released, but the anticipation it built and it's ultimately delivering everything it promised makes it clear that the game will be a hell of a legacy--just like the first. A showcase of Rockstar's open-world capabilities in a Wild West setting, the sequel has everything from great characters, immersive music, and realistic graphics combined. It's practically a world inside a world, with a few enlightening historical field trips packed in too.

Number one, to nobody's surprise, it receives a playscore of 9.37

22. Hollow Knight

Nintendo did well with its grand welcome of indie games because it paved the way for Team Cherry to bring their platform masterpiece to a new stage. One of the Metroidvania games to beat, it pretty much set the standard for style, with its buzzing stages and its mysterious skull-headed adventurer. Before the arrival of their exclusive third installment, they brought the classic titles to the hybrid console, letting us relive or rediscover all her angel-killing misadventures from her days in the long-gone generation.

18. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

When all you need is a quiet time, Animal Crossing has always been at the top of it. This year, the New Horizons has come just when we needed it the most. It may be a little different from what we're used to. Instead of a town, we get a brand new island that you build up from scratch through the new crafting system. It's a lot less slow-paced, bringing us an experience that may be more focused than we're used to. There are more goals to achieve and activities to complete, but it also means making your home away from home is a lot more personalized and customizable.

Exceeding our expectations in every way, it gets a playscore of 8.81

17. Ring Fit Adventure

Probably more relevant now than ever. It was one of Nintendo's most unexpected surprises, seemingly harking back to their Wii Fit days. Except, instead of just plain old exercise, it fits exercise into RPG-like scenarios, letting you navigate a magical world filled with monsters using every calorie in your body.

A much-needed break from all the inaction, it receives a playscore of 8.82

It gets a playscore of 8.83

15. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

Level 5 Games' collaboration with the Japanese Animation Giant, Studio Ghibli, was already a remarkable success on the PS3. But, as it completes the series experience on the Switch, Ni No Kuni's original game basically found its new home in the modern generation. Even though it's not a remastered experience, the world of Ni No Kuni is as magical as ever before, with its charming visuals and equally breathtaking Hisaishi soundtrack.

It has a playscore of 8.84

13. Dragon Ball FighterZ

Combining Arc System Work's signature cinematic and flashy designs, with the fast-paced combat of the Dragon Ball series, Fighter Z delivers one of today's most satisfying fighting experiences. From its original roster of 21 playable characters, Fighter Z's arenas are made more colorful thanks to all the new icons added in their first and second wave of DLCs, with a third to come out soon.

It has a playscore of 8.86

12. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

From the Wii U to the Switch, it looks like our love for this Donkey Kong adventure will never change. Adding a merciful twist to the sometimes punishing platforming of the series, Tropical Freeze on the hybrid console is a blessing for new and old platformer fans. It's a lot more friendly for casual gamers, which means it's a whole lot easier to share with friends and family.

10. Sonic Mania Plus

Even before their record-breaking blockbuster, the Sonic franchise has been on the rise for a while now, and this enhanced version of the 2017 platformer definitely played its part. Unlike Sonic Forces, it stayed true to the classic formula, with its pixel visuals and refreshed 2D stages.

Currently sitting as the highest-rated Sonic game in 25 years, Sonic Mania Plus deserves all the praise with a playscore of 8.93

9. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

While some stuck with their old formula, this game chose to make a switch. One of Nintendo's slew of revamped favorites, this Legend of Zelda title from developer Grezzo returns with a brand new look, abandoning the pixels of its Gameboy Original for some charming, mini diorama presentation.
It has a playscore of 9.03

8. Super Mario Maker 2

In it, the ghosts of the old mansions haunt the green Mario brother, revealing his vacation to be a King Boo ploy all along. Lucky for us, that means tons of creative puzzles, all presented with the spooks, charm, and humor of the Luigi Mansion series.

It has a playscore of 9.05

6. Fire Emblem: Three Houses

4. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Masahiro Sakurai is a generous god. Despite getting overworked in previous titles, he forged on, paving the way for this ultimate edition of the Super Smash game we've always loved. Ultimate is right on the money. Compared to last gen's 51, this edition has 76 characters, featuring old classics, as well as surprising new additions from Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Castlevania, and Metroid. And, that's not including all the cool new characters exclusively available in the DLC fighter packs.

A game that just keeps on getting better, it gets a playscore of 9.31

3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Unlike most of their offerings, this was not the new title we were all expecting. But, it looks like it does its job well enough, bringing to the Switch, the brand of cute but high stakes competitiveness that only Mario Kart can give. The monopoly of the new age, deluxe ramps up the friendly fire by letting players carry up to two items for maximum damage.
I mean, do we even have to say it? It's the game we've feverishly waited for, and probably the reason most of us got the Switch in the first place. The latest chapter in Link's saga is one of the most beautiful jaunts we've ever seen. It's the first even open-world Legend of Zelda title, and despite not holding our hands, it still manages to deliver the compelling narratives that the series is known for.

Still the reigning champion on the Switch, it receives a playscore of 9.52

1. Trackmania Nations Remake

Ubisoft's Trackmania will be getting a return title added to their modern series. Trackmania Nations was originally released back in 2006, but it was overrun with in-game advertisements and nobody really played anything other than the campaign.

With the remake, Ubisoft is converting into a live service, countering the fall off with daily track selections, frequent updates, and an enhanced track creator. Trackmania Nations has always been known for its expansive content, and hopefully this remake will bring it the attention it always deserved.

It's coming out on the PC on July 1.

2. F1 2020 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One

With the new formula one season making its start, we are finally up for another entry into Codemasters' thrilling F1 series. For this entry of the formula one racer, we're getting plenty of new features, the biggest of which is the new My Team mode that's separate from the already outstanding career mode.

In it, you'll get to create a brand new team from scratch, becoming the driver slash manager who's an expert on everything on the track and off. Codemasters are pretty tight-lipped about what's to come in the mode so far, but there's also plenty to be excited about when it comes to improvements on the old features.

The beta signups have just begun but we can expect a release on July 10th.

3. Fast & Furious Crossroads on PC, PS4, and Xbox One

Fast and Furious is one of the most popular movie franchises out there and it's about time they took to the videogame stage--of course, along with their biggest star, Vin Diesel. The game promises over the top, car-based action, with lots of heists and international espionage.

So far, it hasn't been very impressive. For one, despite being designed for PC and consoles, the graphics looks like its made straight from mobile. Even with developers Slightly Mad from Project Cars, with a May 2020 release window, we’re just gonna have to hope for the best.

4. Hotshot Racing on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch

On the subject of throwbacks, Sumo Digital is determined to bring back the best of 90s racing with their latest lightning-fast arcade racing game. If you won't let its low polygons deceive you, Hotshot Racing is built with silky smooth speed in mind.

Gathering up to 8 players in their breakneck tracks, driving seems intensely exciting, especially in 60fps. Featuring a number of game modes, you can beat the online leaderboards in Time Trial, play both sides of the coin in Cops of robbers, or the adrenaline-pumping Drive or Explode mode.

It's set to release on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch this Spring.

5. Inertial Drift on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch

Everybody wants the excitement of the old arcade racers, but Level 91 had different ideas for how to deliver that. Making strides in accessibility and challenge, Inertial Drift presents us 90s retro-futuristic racing using their unique twin-stick control mechanics. Steering with your left stick and drifting with the right means that you'll get to navigate those sharp bends with precision and just the right amount of challenge. And, they take the arcade gaming one step higher with a local split-screen multiplayer.

It's coming out on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch this Spring.

6. Electro Ride

This game's fighting against an image of a gray Russia with an alternate history set in a neon-filled Moscow. It's riding hard on their elaborate backstory, letting you ride through socialist Eastern Blocs padded with 80s pinks and purples. In their night races, you get to choose between carving your path in night racing championships, breaking your own records, or challenging friends for the high scores.

Delayed from its 2019 release date, it's expecting fans will finally find it on the PC sometime this Spring.

7. WRC 9 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Series X

The next step for the WRC series is here. Their 40-second trailer to announce WRC 9 didn't really say much, except for the fact that we can look forward to three new exciting locations in Japan, Kenya, and New Zealand. It also showcased the fact that it's gonna release on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as today's console generation, including the Switch and a PC release on the Epic Games Store.

All of this, while initiating development for WRC 10 and 11, makes it look like the World Rally Championship series is ready for the next generation, and we are getting our first look with WRC 9 on September 3rd.

8. Dangerous Driving 2 on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One

Three Fields Entertainment's spiritual successor to Burnout is getting a sequel and it seems to follow the format of 2008's Burnout Paradise. Steering away from the linearity of the first game, Dangerous Driving 2 will offer an open world paradise for racing enthusiasts.

Aside from breezing through open tracks and fields at your leisure, it will also offer split-screen modes and online multiplayer--all hopefully filled with the crashes and vehicle damage its known for.

That's about all we know about the game so far, and with a Holiday 2020 release window for the PC, PS4, and especially the Switch, we're bound to know more about it soon.

9. RIDE 4

We may have already seen a few good motorcycle games in this list, this fourth installment of the Ride series claims itself as the return of the best motorcycle video game. We didn't really see much from their 26-second teaser trailer. But developer Milestone assures us that on its release, we'll get a hold of new features and witness a "never-before-seen level of realism."

Developed under the same wing as MotoGP, we have high hopes for the title, and it might just be the Forza Horizon of the two-wheel racing genre. It's coming out sometime this year.

10. GTR 3

After months of development silence, the guys and girls at Simbin Studios’ is back in business with their next racing installment. According to the studio, it'll be on the Unreal Engine 4 and they're planning to include day to night transitions, an improved vehicle damage system, as well as dynamic weather systems that will hopefully have organic puddles for us to splash through. With Sector3 Studios working alongside them, we might also see some of the best features of their RaceRoom Racing Experience in the new GTR game.

It was last August that Simbin tweeted about discussions for the release date and its imminent announcement, but we haven't heard from them since.

11. KartRider: Drift on Pc and Xbox One

There was a time when Kart Racing was the big thing, and with this updated version of their crazy racer, Nexon is bringing it back in style. Using the high def ranges of the Unreal Engine 4, KartRider looks better than ever and they're opening their doors for cross-platform play on the PC and the Xbox One--and, still totally free to play. It features the classic Item Mode for those no mercy plays to the finish line, as well as an improved Speed Mode for a drift-focused competition.

It's coming out to PCs and Xbox Ones sometime this year.

12. Monster Truck Championship on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch

From small karts to monster trucks. The Monster Truck Championship by developer Teyon markets itself as the first monster truck simulation. Instead of just mindlessly running into their 25 packed arenas, tuning your massive wheels will be the utmost priority. With over 50 customizable elements, the game aims to simulate the technical details of maintaining and driving the majestic vehicles.

Unique in representing the behind the scenes demands of doughnuts, wheelies, and bicycles, it'll be out on store shelves this year.

13. Test Drive Unlimited 3

After all the promise that Test Drive Unlimited 2 presented, flawed as it was, open-world racing fans everywhere have been waiting for the next game that will blow their minds all over again. And, perhaps, this is it. The third installment has been rumored to be released since there was a Reddit leak from a french developer. But, in Gamesbeat's recent interview with Benoit Clerc, the game has since been confirmed to be in development under Kylotonn, who's responsible for the recent World Rally Championship series.

We don't have an announcement trailer or a release window yet, but that's definitely enough to stoke the hype fires. Hopefully, it’ll come with all the features in our long wishlist.

14. Gran Turismo 7

Sony is under pressure to retain the pedigree of their premier racing series. Lead Designer and director, Kazunori Yamauchi, has been quoted saying that it'll be a complete form of Gran Turismo, combining past, present, and future. With what we've seen from GT Sport, we're definitely expecting better.

While we've learned little since the last time we checked on the Polyphony Digital title, their ambition for the game makes it almost certain that it might get a console launch on the PlayStation 5. And, with PSVR 2.0 supposedly being a pillar of the PS5 launch, that might also come along with it.

Speculation puts it at a November 2020 release, but sadly, nothing has been confirmed.

15. Project CARS 3 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One

Some of Slightly Mad Studios' devs might be busy elsewhere, but the development for their labor of love, Project Cars, is still going strong. Project Cars has been one of the forerunners in the genre of gorgeous racing simulators, and that's still their goal.

When we last checked with them in early pre-production they promised a more focused yet fun racing experience which means fewer variations, but also a lot less balancing issues. There haven't been many details after that, but CEO Ian Bell has recently reassured us of the progress in their upcoming game changer.

It’s reported to be set for release on the PC the next-gen platforms PS5 and Xbox Series X. Unfortunately, there’s still no release date.

Live Service Games or Games As a Service is a brand new business model for gaming. Most FPS titles rely on fast-paced moment to moment action with no room for breathing. In R6: Siege, taking time and planning ahead is a key strategy to win the game.

Grounded on actual CTUs, realism is the main priority in this live-service game from Ubisoft.
Over the years, the developers constantly add new gameplay features aside from the usual grinding and looting.
A sequel to Bungie’s first original IP after Halo, travel to distant planets and create your own character and choose from 3 unique classes.
5. Path Of Exile

Blizzard’s days when it comes to their dungeon-crawling icon, Diablo, has reached a standstill. First released on the PC last 2013, it took a while for Path of Exile to make a name for itself as the ‘Diablo killer’, and now it’s 2020, it has proven itself with its massive playerbase and expansive new content drops.

Grinding Gear Games expanded on the isometric dungeon crawling with online activities that Diablo III didn’t deliver during their launch. It's still going strong today as a free to play title that's also free from the hassle of paywalls. A little daunting for beginners, there's no reason NOT to check it out, with an impressive score of 8.14 on the PC.

6. Paladins

Hi-Rez’s very own take on the hero-shooter genre sparked a few controversies during its launch, but over the years it gained its own identity with more heroes and diverse multiplayer modes to choose from.

At launch, Paladins wasn’t free-to-play and it took them almost a year to change their business model. Now a Live Service game, Paladins continue to add new features to the game including a new champion every now and then and some sweet lore.

Paladins isn’t Overwatch, it’s its own kind of fun with a complex deck-building system. It receives a playscore of 8.03 on the PC and PS4 and 7.25 on the Xbox One.

Valve knows how to keep pumping the good stuff. Making its humble beginnings as a WarCraft mod, it was a game that single handedly started the MOBA genre. Valve redeveloped a sequel with overhauled graphics, improved UI, and remodeled heroes.

Despite its vibrant looks, It boasts one of the steepest learning curves.
Another title from Valve. Counter Strike: Source gave birth to a number of shooters from their very own Source engine. Now, Global Offensive was built on the strong foundations of the already established franchise, and slapping it on with updated visuals, improved multiplayers, and a few new modes. Not to mention it recently turned free-to-play for all players.

It provides an intense, skill-based system that even today, it still has an active community and a strong eSports scene. Its latest content, Shattered Web, brings in new equippable agents and a revamped battle pass system.

Titanfall spin-off takes you to a sadistic arena with a ragtag group of characters.

Gather your squad of three, select your champion and begin the hunt. It shares the same hero-based strategy from Blizzard’s Overwatch, but the action is quicker as time pushes everyone to keep moving forward.

As far as Battle Royales go, become the last squad standing in an arena of 60 people. Whether you want to take it slow, or aggressively, the choice is up to you. EA’s continuous support for this game brings in more content every month.
Whether you like it or not, it’s the leading CG in the gaming sphere. Not even Blizzard’s controversial debacle could stop this strategy game from dying.

Over its 6-year run, the game still plays the same. Control a deck and choose among the 9 iconic classes and characters from the Warcraft universe. Each has their own unique abilities that shape the battlefield, and it’s up to you to outsmart your opponent
.

Maximize your turn by dealing the most efficient damage to your enemy and watch them concede when you play your cards well. With expansions and balance changes coming in every season, it’s a good game for a casually fun card-battling experience. A quirky social commentary about the effects of nuclear war, become the overseer and build your own underground Fallout bunker.

Rebuild civilization the bowels of the earth. Repopulate your citizens and create a thriving community capable of sustaining their day to day activities, except for any incoming Raider or Deathclaw attack.

14. Rocket League

Hear the roaring engines of indestructible cars. Rocket League is a sports game that mixes over-the-top physics and a fun multiplayer experience for all ages.

The goal (pun intended) of the game is simple. Use your rocket-powered vehicle to control one giant ball, race across the pitch and score a goal. It’s literally soccer with a big hauling metal twist.

It has become a notable inclusion to the eSports scene and to this day, developer Psyonix continues to support the game with Rocket Passes, competitive seasons and a bigger eSport tournament in the future. It has a playscore of 8.84 on the PS4 and here are for the other consoles.

15. Overwatch

Blizzard hit the jackpot when their team-based hero-shooter dominated the market when it released. Overwatch, to this day, is still alive and kicking, although their numbers aren’t quite record-breaking as it was before.

Blizzard is currently focusing on their hero-based composition up until now, over the years its live service feature has presented new gameplay changes into the mix including their latest role-lock and the upcoming new DPS hero, Echo.

Of course, these are all but preparations for their most anticipated sequel, Overwatch 2, on which the details are still a mystery as of the moment. It receives a playscore of 8.62 on the PS4, 8.57 on the PC and 8.07 on the Xbox One.

Live Service Games or Games As a Service is a brand new business model for gaming. These are the kind of games that are ‘alive’ and constantly add new content every season, which includes Battle Passes, Cosmetics, Expansions and of course microtransactions. Controversial as they are, these games have become the forefront of the gaming industry with their enjoyability and massive stream of revenue.
