One of the most anticipated indie, souls-like titles this year came out earlier than expected

Indie developer Jyamma Games on September 16 launched <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/enotria-the-last-song/">Enotria: The Last Song</a> for PC via <a href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/2102450/Enotria_The_Last_Song/">Steam</a>. On the same day, they also rolled out the game's Early Access for PlayStation 5 (PS5).

The Milan-based studio said they moved up the PC release date by two days to coincide with the PS5 launch. The decision served as a gesture of appreciation for the game's dedicated PC community. In addition, this will allow PC players the same amount of time as those who pre-ordered for Early Access on PS5.

To recall, devs initially planned to release Enotria: The Last Song last June 21. But they pushed it back to avoid getting overshadowed by the launch of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/elden-ring-shadow-of-the-erdtree/">Shadow of the ErdTree</a>, the lastest Elden Ring expansion pack and currently one of the <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/">best games on PS5</a> and PS4.

Enotria: The Last Song is a souls-like RPG set in an Italian-inspired world. There, a mysterious force known as the Canovaccio has trapped the world in a perpetual, unnatural state. Players become the Maskless One, the only person who holds the key to break the spell.

Then they set on a quest to defeat tyrannical Authors who created the Canovaccio. At the same time, they must also harness the energy of Ardore to free the world from its 'stagnant existence.'

The game features intense combat and a unique mask system that grants new abilities.

During battles, players can choose from the 30 distinct Masks. Each has its own unique strengths and weaknesses. The game also contains 120 weapons, 45 spells, and 8 parry modifiers.

Enotria: The Last Song also has a feature called the Path of Innovators. It lets players customize their playstyle through unlockable skills. In addition, they can also explore a vast, interconnected world, solve puzzles, and encounter bosses.

Fans of horror adventure games will have to wait a bit longer for the release of <a hrf="https://whatoplay.com/games/dollhouse-behind-the-broken-mirror/">Dollhouse: Behind The Broken Mirror</a>. The game's creators on September 11 announced they postponed the game's launch to next year. Instead of this year, the new release date will be February 28, 2025.

Dollhouse: Behind The Broken Mirror is developed by Indigo Studios and Grindstone, with SOEDESCO as its publisher.

In a statement, developers and publishers said they needed more time to ensure the game's quality before rolling it out.

"This delay will help us ensure the game meets our standards by giving our team additional time for final adjustments and polishing," they said.

The delay may disappoint some eager players. However, SOEDESCO promises to provide more updates and content related to the game in the coming months.

Along the way, she must either fight or sneak past them to uncover fragments of her past.

Dollhouse: Behind The Broken Mirror Release Delayed

Creators of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/remnant-2/">Remnant II</a> are preparing to close the chapter on the popular <a href="https://whatoplay.com/ps5/best/third-person-shooter/">third-person shooter</a>.

Arc Games and Gunfire Games announced on September 10th the release date of the final downloadable content (DLC) for Remnant II. Titled 'The Dark Horizon', it will launch this September 24.

The upcoming expansion will also arrive alongside a free major content update. And it will introduce a brand-new 'Boss Rush' game mode. Both content updates will roll out simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

'The Dark Horizon' marks the culmination of the Remnant II DLC saga. And it will feature a brand-new storyline.

It takes players back to the world of N'Erud. There, they will discover a mysterious place preserved in time, where alien farmlands had once been tended by a long-gone civilization.

But time corrupts all. Rogue AI and robotic creations emerged as threats while Travelers searched for the secrets of the colossal entity that dominates the skyline.

New features found in 'The Dark Horizon' DLC will include new locations such as dungeons, and new items. Like a new gear, a new Archetype, additional allies, and a new glider traversal system not found in other worlds. Along the way, as they set off to defeat the colossal entity that looms over N'Erud, they will also encounter new threats and enemies, developers said.

Alongside the paid DLC, a free content update will introduce a "Boss Rush" mode. In it, players will go face Remnant II's most formidable bosses. They can choose from solo or cooperative play with fellow "Travelers," and tackle three difficulty options. These are Triple Threat (three bosses), Trial by Fire (seven bosses), or The Gauntlet (all nineteen bosses).

The goal is simple yet incredibly demanding: survive relentless enemy waves and conquer boss fights to earn coveted rewards. This included elusive weapons.

The update also introduces a new system called Prisms. Prisms further refine the fragment system and allow players to level up for additional stat bonuses.

'The Dark Horizon' will carry a price tag of £8.50.

<a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/swap-meat/">SWAP/MEAT</a>, an upcoming multiplayer <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/shooter/">shooter</a>, will welcome players to experience its high-octane gameplay. Developers from One More Game (OMG) announced that they are gearing up for a new playtest for SWAP/MEAT.

"That's right, Meat Fam. We goin' live again, and want to play with you," developers wrote on Steam. "This update is all about more. More content, more progression, more MEAT," they added.

The playtest event started on Friday, September 6. It will end on September 10 at 12 p.m. Both will follow Pacific Time schedules. The upcoming playtest came just weeks after OMG hosted a successful initial playtest in July.

According to developers, they have been busy incorporating player feedback. In turn, players can expect a "savory recipe" of improvements. These include visual upgrades, bug fixes, and refined systems. They even described it as a list of changes as 'extensive as a Cheesecake Factory menu.'

Unveiled a year ago, SWAP/MEAT is a roguelite <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/third-person-shooter/">third-person shooter</a> with a unique twist.

Players assume the role of "Meat Scientists" for Rangus Meats, a multi-galactic corporation seeking the ultimate sustainable meat source.
Teams of 1-4 players raid bizarre planets and battle hostile alien lifeforms. Their objective: "swapping meat" to acquire new abilities.

By stealing body parts from fallen enemies, players can augment their own characters with powerful and often grotesque mutations. As a result, they can have dynamic playstyle shifts on the fly.

The ultimate goal is to extract "meat cores" from three planets and survive a final showdown against a formidable boss.

The world of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/astroneer/">Astroneer</a>, the popular <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/indie/">indie</a> space exploration game, just got bigger.

Developers from System Era Softworks revealed the first-ever paid expansion pack for Astroneer. Called 'Glitchwalkers', it will launch later this year.

"Over 7 years and 20 updates after its early access release, Astroneer is growing once again!" System Era announced.

Players on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One can buy the expansion pack. Glitchwalkers promises to take players on a thrilling new adventure across a vast, uncharted world.

The game's signature <a href="https://whatoplay.com/best/survival/">survival</a> sandbox gameplay remains the core of Glitchwalkers. But with a significant twist: a whole new planet to explore. Aeoluz, the largest world ever encountered in Astroneer, boasts diverse biomes, both above and below the surface.

The latest content update isn't just about exploring a new frontier, according to devs. It also introduces the game's first true antagonist – Lyn.

A rogue member of the ESS Elysium crew, Lyn has taken to manipulating the Astroneer Training Program's (ATP) code. Players must join forces with Frank, the Elysium's Head of Maintenance, to stop Lyn from dismantling the ATP.

The journey to Aeoluz promises to be a test of both resourcefulness and technical prowess. Players will also encounter a new tech tree and modules. They'll need these advancements not only to navigate Aeoluz's unique environment. But also counter-hack Lyn's manipulations, and ultimately restore the ATP to its proper function.

Alongside the paid Glitchwalkers expansion, System Era Softworks will also release a free companion update for the base game.

This update will introduce new gameplay features. Devs will also roll out quality-of-life improvements, and bug fixes.

Since its launch in 2019, Astroneer has garnered over 11 million players. It recently celebrated its fifth anniversary of spacefaring exploration. On whatoplay, it received a playscore of 8.1 for PC, and 7.9 for Xbox.

Astroneer Blasts Off with First Paid Expansion

Here's something fans of the hit action-adventure <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/tears-of-the-kingdom/">Legend of Zelda</a> franchise might be interested in.

In the upcoming <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/the-legend-of-zelda-echoes-of-wisdom/">The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom</a>, it is Princess Zelda who will take the lead. As its leader, one of the game's most iconic characters will be at the forefront of the quest to save Hyrule.

Nintendo on September 1st dropped the newest trailer for Echoes of Wisdom. The video, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUdJF8gyO4A">published on YouTube</a>, offered a glimpse into the enigmatic Still World. But the real highlight of the trailer is Zelda's transformation into a swordfighter.

<div class="video-responsive">
 <iframe width="1486" height="836" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wUdJF8gyO4A" title="The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom — Into the Still World, a Journey Continued — Nintendo Switch" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div>

Zelda as the main playable character and leading the campaign has been touted as 'a bold departure' for the beloved franchise. Players will have the opportunity to test their wit and combat prowess as they guide the princess through a Hyrule unlike any seen before.

The latest trailer also provided previews of her in-game combat styles and mechanics.

Wielding a mysterious blade, she can unleash a flurry of attacks. But this powerful form comes with a caveat – it can only be sustained for a limited time.

To counter this, Zelda must collect energy scattered throughout the Still World. This will also allow her to utilize this potent ability strategically.

Meanwhile, players finally got a glimpse of Still World in Echoes of Wisdom. Still World is a realm accessible through mysterious rifts that suddenly appeared in Hyrule.

Here, fragments of the outside world - trees, landmasses, and even people - float suspended in a void. With the guidance of the ethereal creature Tri, Zelda ventures into the Still World. There, she must navigate intricate dungeons and confront formidable bosses.

<figure>

The key to conquering these challenges lies in Zelda's newfound ability to create "echoes". These are imitations of objects and creatures found in her surroundings. This power, bestowed by Tri and the Tri Rod, allows Zelda to manipulate the Still World to her advantage.

Echoes can also serve as platforms to bridge gaps, shields to deflect enemy attacks or even tools to solve puzzles.

Aside from Tri, engineer Dampé also plays a crucial role in the game - by crafting helpful automatons for Zelda to use.

Echoes of Wisdom will debut on the Nintendo Switch family of systems this September 26th. The game is currently available for pre-order. Nintendo Switch Online members can also expect additional incentives.

Players can also opt to buy the special edition Nintendo Switch Lite: Hyrule Edition bundle. It contains exclusive game merchandise. This included a captivating gold-colored console emblazoned with the iconic Hylian Crest. It also has a year-long Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. This will grant players access to a library of classic titles, including ten beloved "Legend of Zelda" games.

Princess Zelda Takes Center Stage in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Bad news for players looking forward to the full release of <a href="https://whatoplay.com/games/parcel-corps/">Parcel Corps</a>. The messenger <a href="https://whatoplay.com/pc/best/simulation/">simulation</a> game's launching has been delayed to a later date in 2024.

But in true satire fashion, developers and publishers made the announcement in a hilarious way. They revealed the news in a tongue-in-cheek press release.

The lighthearted announcement plays on the game's theme. It offered players a mock “delivery notice” for their anticipated copy of Parcel Corps. Players can choose from humorous reasons for the delay, including "courier malfeasance" and "theft by wallaby," before revealing the real reason: developer polish.

Creators of Parcel Corps said they needed extra development time to ensure the “best possible launch.”

“We understand that some may be disappointed by the delay,” Billy Goat Entertainment said. “However, we're confident that the extra time will allow us to deliver the most polished and enjoyable experience for players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S," they added.

To appease eager players, the announcement also included a link to the latest trailer. It showcased the game's high-octane bicycle parkour and delivery mechanics. The trailer provided a glimpse into the vibrant world of New Island.

But the lighthearted story takes a turn for the unexpected. A sinister plot by oil tycoon Rich Villainé threatens the very existence of the city. Players must then master their bike-handling skills. They need to deliver packages on time, and ultimately save the day.

The gameplay involved players choosing a side and engaging in “two-wheeled rivalries”. Their goal is to capture market share and influence. All the while, dodging the nefarious schemes of oil tycoon Rich Villainé. As the game unfolds, players will find themselves unexpectedly thrust into a world-saving mission.
