Les 14 ans d’attente pour un retour inespéré en aussi solide forme méritent selon nous de saluer la détermination et le profond témoignage d’amour de GSC Game World envers cette licence culte. Aussi inhospitalière soit-elle, la Zone gagne à ce qu’on s’y perde pendant des heures de plaisir mâtiné d’angoisse. Une expérience vidéoludique vraiment à part, à laquelle il ne manque finalement qu’une bonne couche de peaufinage pour totalement briller.

But this sequel too often buries its best qualities beneath contrived hardship, an artifice that fails to obscure that this world, at least in its current state, is as shallow as it is wide. What might once have been intended as a rebuke to open-world excess is instead a cautionary tale, an argument for all the little carrot-on-a-stick elements that make a game like this feel like more what it is: a wasteland.

Desafortunadamente, por razones que seguramente tuvieron que ver con su muy complicado proceso de desarrollo, GSC Game World está entregando un juego que falla constantemente en cada uno de sus apartados y que las pocas luces que tiene, se ve totalmente opacadas por un aspecto técnico que se quedó lejos de lo que se esperaba. Puede que debajo de todo esto haya una experiencia que sí valga la pena. Yo francamente no vi nada de eso, pero imagino que habrá quien sí le encuentre el encanto.

Chornobyl Exclusion Zone has changed dramatically after the second massive explosion in year 2006.
