- Payday: The Heist hits the spot. It's a fun shooter that works both solo and in multiplayer, packing an incredible amount of excitement and tension into what is really a simple concept. You might go into this $20 downloadable game not expecting that much but emerge on the other side of a few heists considering a less-than-legal career change.
Brett Todd · Nov 02, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - It doesn’t break any ground but it is this level of familiarity that makes it easy to control right from the beginning, as it uses the standard issue FPS button layout. If you do have friends who can’t get enough of heists, then Payday is a fine choice and an arguable target for a lawsuit from Michael Mann.
Miguel Concepcion · Oct 26, 2011 Reviewed on PS3 - AYDAY: The Heist is a classic example of a diamond in the rough, a game that is just too enjoyable at its core for any of its issues to remain unforgivable. I have a feeling that, with continued support, it will only get better and better, and I think that shooter fans looking for something both different and perversely empowering will get a real kick out of what PAYDAY: The Heist has to offer.
Jim Sterling · Oct 21, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Ultimately devoid of impact as it is, Payday is a game that does manage to offer a few hours of entertainment. Its spartan slate of features and atmospherically lackluster missions fail to give it the kind of addictive quality so important to a game like Left 4 Dead's lasting appeal, but for those who just feel like mowing down some cops, heisting some loot, and reminiscing about how damned good a movie Heat is, Payday is serviceable enough across the board.
Alex Navarro · Oct 20, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - While these flaws may hold the game back from its massive potential, they never render it unplayable or even unfun. In fact, PAYDAY provides almost nonstop heart-pounding action through six scenarios that are very replayable. With a 145-level progression system, each level unlocking something new, this is a game you'll spend a lot of time with.
Josh Wirtanen · Oct 18, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Payday is clearly meant to be played with three friends, but if your plan is to go solo it’s still worth your time and money. The partner AI is surprisingly competent, and aside from a few expected quirks, never made us yell “What are you doing? Get over here!” like we’re used to in most games with partner AI.
Matthew Keast · Oct 18, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - In spite of its few faults and a curious lack of a competitive multiplayer element, Payday: The Heist manages a fun and fresh cooperative experience that duly pays tribute to a genre rarely seen in games. If you’re looking for a solid downloadable game that won’t put much of a strain on your personal stash, this game is practically a steal at $20.
Game Trailers · Oct 18, 2011 Reviewed on PS3 - I enjoyed my time with it and want to play more with my friends. Working together to get the loot and the insanity of trying to get out alive are tense, enjoyable experiences. Issues like the clipping and generally "blah" presentation keep PayDay from being an amazing experience, but they don't stop it from being a good time.
GREG MILLER · Oct 18, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - The progression system, where you unlock better weapons, equipment, and special abilities as you play each of the four classes (which vary from each other far less than in, say, Battlefield) is a decent enough hook to keep playing and seeing the variations on the handful of heists in the game. I find myself annoyed enough at the gameplay to not care about fluff like getting a bigger mag for my assault rifle, though.
Adam Biessener · Oct 18, 2011 Reviewed on PC, PS3 - Though the world would be a better place if Payday had spent an extra three months in post-production, here it is, warty and slightly shonky in places, but built on rock-solid foundations. If it doesn't quite match up to a high watermark like Left 4 Dead, that's no great criticism, and in its very finest moments - let's mention that superb audio design again - Payday is as good as cops and robbers gets.

About the game
Trailers & Screenshots:
Payday: The Heist is a high-intensity squad-based first person shooter where players take on the role of a hardened career criminal pulling death-defying heists in the never-ending pursuit of the next "big score." Quick wit, an equally fast trigger finger and above all teamwork are the rules of engagement as players will embark on a spectacular crime spree of six heart stopping heists, including blasting their way through a downtown bank vault robbery, managing hostages in an armored car hijacking and even a midnight infiltration of a top-secret, high-security facility.
