- Ziggurat can be completed in just over an hour, but it's unlikely you will stop there. The game is challenging, engaging, and a whole lot of fun, despite its problems. There is an abundance of perks to discover and up to 11 characters to unlock, all of whom have a unique set of strengths and weaknesses. If you believe you have the mystical skills to conquer the mighty Ziggurat, now is your chance to prove your worth.
Cameron Woolsey · Apr 28, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - An enjoyable, randomly generated FPS romp that's surprisingly addictive. Despite being priced perhaps a little high, and occasionally exhibiting some slowdown and minor glitches, Ziggurat offers many hours of potential entertainment for those willing to take up its considerable challenge.
Jaz Rignall · Apr 27, 2015 Reviewed on PS4 - The other thing that left me feeling slightly disappointed is the lack of multiplayer in Ziggurat. While I don’t normally see this as a bad thing, Ziggurat is the type of game that is just begging for some co-op capabilities. ...It looks beautiful, offers a great deal of replay value, and features wizards in a badass way. There are a large number of spells and upgrades to choose from, and each playthrough literally brings new and exciting features into the game.
Mark Labbe · Apr 24, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Ziggurat is an interesting game. I really enjoyed the fast-paced combat and incremental progression, but the technical issues stick out like a sore thumb. Still, if you can get past those there is a neat experience waiting here. Although the price tag feels a little steep, it never felt like I didn’t get my money’s worth of enjoyment out of it.
Ken McKown · Mar 26, 2015 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - There’s a clear love for the classic first person shooters coming from this game. It brings back memories of playing them from years ago. Anyone who likes shooters should consider buying it, and I hope it continues to grow a bigger fanbase as time goes on.
Dan Worcester · Nov 30, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I can’t fully understand how Nintendo missed the boat so badly on this one, but as it stands, I can’t fully recommend Ziggurat especially not when The Binding of Isaac is also on the Nintendo eShop.
Jordan Biordi · Nov 02, 2016 Reviewed on Wii U - Ziggurat is pure, unabashed pick-up-and-play fun and it's also fairly unique an experience in the Wii U library. It's recommended then - just take note of the slight technical issues which drag our overall score down a touch.
Jonathan Town · Jul 26, 2016 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - There's no school like old-school, and Ziggurat serves as a reminder that there's still fun to be had in 2015 with what's essentially an 'arena' shooter. Whether the shooting is good enough to stand on its own without the rest of the package is up for debate, however the smartly implemented Roguelite trappings, as well as the well pitched difficulty, help to cast a spell that'll have you heading back into Ziggurat time and time again.
Alex Stinton · May 06, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Ziggurat isn’t the type of game that’s going to appeal to all audiences, but if it sounds like something you’d be into, chances are you’ll really like it. Combining first-person shooting and dungeon crawling with a roguelike framework lends to a vibe that feels distinct, and it’s one that we think fans of fantasy themes and old-school shooters will appreciate very much. There are a couple recurring performance issues to put up with, but they don’t get in the way to the point where enjoyment is diminished.
