About

Set 700 years before the first title in the Ys series, the Ys Origin's story focuses on the twin Goddesses and the mysterious Black Pearl made famous in Ys I & II, and follows the adventures of several playable characters as they ascend the menacing Darm Tower.

Players select from one of three playable characters, each with their own unique storyline and vastly different style of play. After the Story Mode has been completed the real challenge begins as players test their mettle in Time Attack, Boss Rush and Arena Mode. Falcom's much-lauded Sound Team JDK is back once again to provide the hard rocking music that players have become accustomed to hearing as they take on the brutal old-school platforming and puzzle challenges that the Ys series is known for.

    Ys Origin

This game is easy but fun, you have to play the game 3 times with 3 different characters. The Story is about two goddess whose descend to the surface to control the demons. Because they did not mention anything a group of people are send to search for them. I dont have much to say about this game, its an old game but the gameplay still being fun. Music is great (not so great as others games) and the story is kind off lack in my opinion.

Don't believe the rubbish about Ys 8. Ys Origin smashes it on every level. Graphics really do the game justice, they aren't like Gujian 3, or anything like that. They aren't from that era and that isn't the intended look. They completely achieve what they need to and I love the look. Music is real quality in this game. It's not Xenoblade, or Fire Emblem good but it's only just behind. Gameplay. It plays like a classic top down Zelda, if you were to remove the over world, reduce the puzzles and up the combat. That is a pretty close description. The controls are fantastic, it responds well. Grind. I hate grinding. If you have to grind in a game I don't buy it. I didn't know about the grind prior to buying this. It's hard to believe but the grind is actual fun here. I prefer the combat in this much more than Musou games. It is very similar but feels better. It is fun just running back through the previous levels and mashing up some bad guys. The bosses in this game are fantastic. I loved the boss fights. 3 of us would sit and hot seat any bosses we got stuck on. It became a very communal game considering it is one player. There are three story paths here. One is locked behind completing the other two. I really enjoyed the story and on one of the play through's I found an enemy character became super likeable. Ys Origin is amazing and for good reason. Everything works, everything gels, it is a very whole, very complete game with a clear vision, atmosphere and objective. And by this I mean everything compliments everything and makes for a fantastic experience. It is really well rounded and most of all fast, simple fun. It is a massively overlooked, must buy ARPG. The best in the Ys franchise. I can't actually think of an AJRPG I liked more. I own it on Play Station 4 and Switch. It's works great on both. If you have played games on the new Ys engine - Ys8 and 9 and didn't think much, don't let that put you off. Games on the old engine like Ys Origins and Ys Felghana are very different, way more fun and a lot less faff.
