  • WWE '13 may seem like just another licensed product trading on nostalgia, but it displays an understanding of why the Attitude Era was so revered and unique. WWE '13 lets longtime wrestling lovers reminisce about the WWE's halcyon days and serves as an inspired interactive history lesson for younger or more casual fans. Wrestling may never reach those heights again, but at least we can relive them here.

  • THQ have held the WWE licence for a long time now, so to put out a game that feels so broken, with poor collision detection and a large number of bugs are something I’m struggling to accept. What’s even worse is the fact that THQ clearly know their wrestling – the highly detailed entrances alone confirm that – and they have come up with a great idea in the Attitude Era mode, but it’s wrapped in such an unfinished package.

  • In pro wrestling, detail is everything. Where WWE 13 shines in its attention to detail, especially in the dedicated ways it brings the Attitude Era to life, it falls just a few steps short in other modes. Fans of the series should have few troubles getting into this year's game, and both former and current fans alike should absolutely play the game for the single player campaign alone.

  • Considering the franchise's annual nature and the fact that last year brought such a huge overhaul to the series, it's not a surprise that WWE '13 doesn't innovate as substantially as its predecessor. It feels like the same game in many ways, but lots of subtle tweaks help make up for the shortcomings in WWE '12. The small refinements add up, particularly when rounded out by the handful of bigger additions.

  • Outside of the addition of Attitude Mode, '13 is very similar to '12, but that isn't a bad thing. Although THQ has a number of issues to fix either by way of a patch or in next year's iteration, people looking for a solid wrestling game shouldn't be disappointed.

  • WWE 13 builds upon the successful base that WWE 12 provided in gameplay evolution, and makes a good game better

  • If you enjoy creating your own shows, forming your own factions, and designing your own stable of pro wrestlers, you'll view WWE 13's creation suite as the best there is, the best there was, and possibly the best there will be, with options more diverse than Mick Foley's wrestling personas. Yet the gameplay, AI, and controls have not significantly advanced from last year's title, making WWE 13 more uneven than the "People's Eyebrow." Fans of WWE 12 will find the amusing Attitude Era reason enough to purchase the game, but those who felt last year's in-ring action was a step back from earlier wrestling titles should be reluctant to accept a rematch.

Although my inner Attitude-loving teen doesn't quite win out, this is still the most authentically detailed, lovingly crafted grappler ever committed to disc.

  • WWE ‘13 is one of those games that has just too much content to review. I’ve had WWE ‘13 for a couple weeks now and I still haven’t seen everything the game has to offer. It has a feature set unlike any other and its commitment to both built-in narrative and player-based customization is greater than anything we have seen from almost any other title on the market, regardless of genre.

  • The presentation has been enhanced overall. The loading times are lightning fast compared to earlier installments and the extraordinary roster has more than one hundred wrestlers, in addition to a wealth of DLC characters. The music selection and character modeling is strong too, but it's about time that the hair modeling was upgraded. If you inevitably compare some of the wrestlers in the Attitude Era to their in-game counterparts, the jaggedness of the hair is a hot mess.

    About the game

It takes blood, sweat, and tears to become the best in the world. And if you want to rise to the top on your terms, you better bring the Attitude, and ignite a revolution. Last summer, one man revolutionized the sports entertainment industry. In a legendary moment at the end of Monday Night Raw, CM Punk shook up WWE and a hero was born.

WWE ’13 will transform WWE gameplay through the introduction of WWE Live, completely changing the videogame’s audio and presentation elements. Predator Technology returns to further implement critical gameplay improvements, while fan favorites in WWE Universe Mode and the franchise’s renowned Creation Suite are poised to offer the utmost in player freedom.
