  • WRC Generations marks the end of a series that has never really hit cruising speed on Switch. Like its predecessors, its look and feel are subpar and while it has a lot of content, it's a struggle to enjoy it fully given how many compromises you have to make.

  • It makes up for its lack of innovation with a sheer amount of tracks and cars at your disposal, in a “greatest hits” kind of way. Even though it’s slightly less polished than WRC 10, I still absolutely recommend checking WRC Generations out.

  • It feels that the management portion has been made simpler to understand, and this makes the career mode even more enjoyable to play. The game retained its many settings so you can adjust it to your liking, and thanks to the amazing sounds and graphics, this is a masterpiece to behold.

  • There’s still a bit of “jank”, and the game is far from the best-looking racers out there, but WRC Generations offers a compelling middle ground between arcade and simulation rally, with a robust enough online and ranking system to push virtual drivers towards perfection for months to come.

The game features the three Rally1 hybrid vehicles, which is a neat touch. There are also plenty of classics here from manufacturers such as Ford and Peugeot that range from recent models to classics from the past. There is no shortage of vehicles to obtain although a few popular omissions make me wonder if they simply didn’t have time to include them before getting the game out.

  • WRC Generations is unfortunately a game that leaves a lot to be desired, and in many ways, this will disappoint quite a lot of fans of the franchise out there.

When you get into the guts of it, WRC Generations is by no means a drastic shake-up on its quality predecessors, even if there have been some small but welcome improvements to the career mode and customization tools that have spiked my enthusiasm.

  • Its gameplay is just deep enough for big-time enthusiasts to justify spending dozens of hours in, while its learning curve is just shallow enough for more casual or arcade style racing fans to get plenty of enjoyment out of it too.

  • WRC Generations is a good rally game. A great one, even. But a lack of innovation and genuinely new content makes it the least essential entry in the series for some time

  • On the whole, WRC Generations takes a decent stab at the rally scene with some great clock-beating racing, a deep career and a beefy challenge system. Away from that though and it all feels as though the series needs a little reset – which plays in perfectly to the WRC license moving stables.
