- Worms Rumble definitely has a fun cartoony art style, but that doesn’t prevent it from having a few technical issues on the Nintendo Switch. The frame rate is far from consistent, on top of this, when things really start popping off, the screen becomes very busy, and as a result, difficult to see.
Morgan Truder · Jul 31, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - I commend developers when they try to create something new with estabilished franchises, but not at the cost of what people like the most about them in the first place. That’s the main problem with Worms Rumble: it just isn’t as fun as any of its turn-based counterparts. In a sea of multiplayer shooters with way more content out there, some of them not requiring an upfront payment in order to access them, this game just doesn’t have what it takes in order to stand out.
Leo Faria · Jul 05, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Real-time Worms action is something all previous fans of the series have probably thought about at one point, and it’s nice to not only see it happen but have it modernised in the popular battle royale style. It’s simple enough to pick up and play and the cross platforming means you can squad up with your friends using other platforms too. I found it fun to play and a decent addition to the Worms series. My only gripe is that sometimes there are too many explosions on-screen to keep track of your worm at times.
Graham Cameron · Jun 30, 2021 Reviewed onRead full review - Worms Rumble is a reasonably fun game in its own right; the battles feel fast, the weapons pack a decent punch, and the addition of zip wires make traversal a blast. The problem is that in transitioning to a multiplayer-focused battle royale style game, much of what made Worms so iconic in the past is now gone, with far fewer weapons and absolutely no destructible environments.
Ollie Reynolds · Jun 29, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - At the end of the day, this is a great take on the Worms franchise at a low price (and currently out as Decembers free PS Plus game) and we can’t recommend it enough for your library. It’ll either help pass a weekend, entertained by the new indie arena feel of a long time industry figure, or hours over months as you dive in to kill a little time. So, while the games go quickly, and the inventory has been a little thinned out, this is a Worms game that has reminded us of a long-running series that we still love.
Jayderlee · Dec 21, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - While destructible terrain may no longer be a feature, the interactivity of the sprawling maps makes up for it. Worms Rumble is easy to play but difficult to master, and worth your time whether you’re a fan of the series or enjoy fast-paced competitive games that test your reflexes and quick thinking.
Paulmichael Contreras · Dec 15, 2020 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - This absence does feel like a massive oversight especially for a release commemorating the 25th anniversary of the franchise. Overall, the package is kind of a mixed bag of really fun frenetic gameplay and just as many missed opportunities that could’ve been something special for longtime fans.
Camilo Olmedo · Dec 12, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Worms works in real-time as a fast-paced, side-scrolling free-for-all, even with all the omissions and limitations. Despite all the complaints, Worms Rumble is a ton of fun. That said, this feels like a slight divergence from the main series. For PS+ members, it’s absolutely worthwhile but anyone else should approach the game as a work in progress still expanding in, we hope, the right direction.
Jason D'Aprile · Dec 11, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Worms Rumble is fairly limited out of the gate given the small number of maps that tend to repeat with irritating frequency. However, the gameplay itself is an entertaining twist on a classic formula and still features the signature Worms touches. It remains to be seen whether the promise of new maps, seasonal modes, and outfits is enough to keep players engaged for long stretches of time.
John Newby · Dec 10, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - This review is on the short side because there isn't a whole lot to Worms Rumble as is. You queue up for your mode of choice (which will probably be battle royale solo queue more often than not), you try your best to rank, unlock a few cosmetics you may or may not use; then repeat.
