- Overall, World War Z on Nintendo Switch is decent…and that’s about it. The technical aspects of this game are truly impressive and seeing the game in action is quite the feat on Switch. The overall game is mediocre. It’s your typical zombie shooter that doesn’t stray from the path of all the other zombie shooters set before it.
Jesse Taylor · Nov 22, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - World War Z is one of the better horde shooters out there right now. There’s nothing quite like mowing down hundreds upon hundreds of zombies in a single wave. However, with the DLC content not in this particular Switch version just yet, it is hard to recommend to people who may have already played it on a PC or other consoles. Still, if you can overlook this, and if you really want to experience this on-the-go, then World War Z on Switch is still worth playing.
Kyle Nicol · Nov 09, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - World War Z is an unremarkable zombie shooter that serves up a decent five-odd hours of action if you can find a few friends to play with. It's repetitive stuff; basic and unsurprising for the most part, but this Switch port is solid, managing to provide the full-fat experience without too much in the way of technical issues or other shortcomings. If you're in the mood for blazing through bland masses of zombies with a few friends in tow, this one's got you covered – just don't expect much more than that.
PJ O'Reilly · Nov 05, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - World War Z is the sleeper hit of 2019, and Saber Interactive is doing its part to keep the game alive in 2020, with the GOTY Edition collecting the game and all its premium DLC together in one package. The result is the definitive edition of one of the great co-op titles of this generation. For all its technical prowess and complex gameplay systems, World War Z succeeds because it never loses sight of one basic truth: shooting zombies with your friends is spectacular fun.
Zak Wojnar · May 26, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Overall, World War Z provides a decent co-op zombie experience, despite some drawbacks. The weapons lack oomph, even when powered up, but they are still decent. The class system doesn't make anyone feel too different, but much like the weapons, there aren't any terrible classes. The locale changes are nice (even if the level beats remain similar), and the inclusion of standard adversarial multiplayer modes is also welcome. It's in real need of polish as far as matchmaking basics go, but it will satisfy those who have been waiting a long time for another co-op, zombie-killing experience.
Cody Medellin · May 08, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - A surprisingly deep and fun co-op shooter, World War Z proves that killing hordes of zombies is still fun, years after the genre hit its peak.
Kyle Johnson · May 04, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - World War Z has many rough edges that are easy to spot, exacerbated by limited content that makes repeated playthroughs less interesting with each run. But it's also a cooperative shooter that has the space for those dynamic and ridiculous player stories to emerge in. The rush of taking down a swarm with friends is core to what makes World War Z's action work so well, and it rewards you well for the time spent on the classes and weapons you like.
Alessandro Barbosa · May 03, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - In all things, World War Z takes ideas that I've already seen done better elsewhere, gives them an interesting little twist—and then makes that twist not matter. It treads familiar ground, but it's not as clever or fun as what's come before it.
Ian Birnbaum · May 03, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - All in all, World War Z provides a fun zombie killing experience that should leave fans of the Left 4 Dead titles pretty happy. Mowing down waves of zombies is a blast, especially when partnered up with 3 friends. And that is all World War Z had to do. The game isnât groundbreaking in any way and surely feels like it is missing some content, however, what is there will surely give players a good time and an adrenaline rush to go along with it.
Grant Huff · Apr 30, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - While it’s an unabashed Left 4 Dead clone that never extends beyond the conservative concepts and budgets that obviously constrained its development, World War Z offers up an enjoyable adventure that at times does a lot with the little it attempts. No matter whether playing the co-op campaign or competitive multiplayer, there’s enough good to the game to make the bad not feel as bad.
