- Nevertheless, it's hard to resent what is otherwise a cheerful romp with some titillating, fresh gimmicks and a winsomely dark sense of humour. Blistering challenge rooms and online leaderboards may extend its stay, but ultimately Warp is a shallow game, and happily so: here one moment and gone the next.
Marsh Davies · May 27, 2012 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Warp implements fun new mechanics that haven’t been fully embraced in a genre that just doesn’t see much innovation. It’s a brief, well-paced adventure that makes you actively use your brain along the way. Gameplay does unfortunately get a tad repetitive at times – something that happens when you only have a few mechanics. Nonetheless, the fun in each of those mechanics is in full enough supply to keep the bore level minimal.
Landon Robinson · Apr 03, 2012 Reviewed on PC - The game closes with a genuinely dreadful boss-fight, too, which somehow distils all the game’s minor failings into a high-concentrate shot of misery. But, once it’s over, such a bum note is lost amid the rapidfire beat of challenge room chaos. Warp tends to the lightweight – almost a confection – but as with anything that offers this sort of energetic sugary high, sometimes it’s good to be left wanting more.
Edge Staff · Mar 30, 2012 Reviewed on PC - If there's a flaw in Warp, it's that when the game is over, you're left wanting more—with more investment in the graphics and more levels, this title could easily have commanded several times the asking price of $10. Anyone who likes stealth, puzzle-solving, quirky humor, and a mixing of the childish and the gruesome will love Warp, and there's easily enough fuel left in this concept to power a sequel or two.
Robert VerBruggen · Mar 29, 2012 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Warp is good fun and definitely worth a playthrough. You'll have a great time figuring out the puzzles and popping humans like water balloons. It is an arcade game, so Zero doesn't stick around very long, but it's a fun ride while it lasts.
Jodie Smith · Mar 06, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Although I enjoyed my time with Warp, and could not find too many negatives to report, it still seems a bit average when compared to other puzzle games I have played. If you are a lover of puzzle games and are looking for a new challenge to tax your mind, then Warp is most likely a title for you, otherwise you might just want to try the demo first to make sure to make sure you’re not getting into something that you might regret.
John Elliott · Feb 22, 2012 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Warp is charming at first, but the simple A.I. and basic puzzles aren’t enough to make it an XBLA standout. Completionists may find replay value in the collectible grubs, basic upgrade system, and challenge rooms, but anyone looking for deeper stealth or puzzle-based gameplay should look elsewhere.
Dan Ryckert · Feb 22, 2012 Reviewed on X360 - The attention given to its commendable visual and audio presentation sometimes seems at odds with the vagaries of the gameplay itself, and the endless repetition of angry guards and cowardly scientists conflicts with the ease with which Warp introduces the complexities of its four special abilities. It's best to take Warp as the carefree fling it's likely meant to be, because anyone looking for a rewarding experience here will find only a charmingly warped vision of games we've seen many times before.
Jeremiah Johnson · Feb 21, 2012 Reviewed on PC, X360Read full review - Brainy and amusing, Warp is highly recommended stealth/puzzle fare, despite some hiccups right at the end. From a humble, enticing premise -- an alien that can teleport needs to escape a laboratory -- layers of gameplay variation are neatly introduced until you've warped your way through a rich, satisfying adventure.
Daemon Hatfield · Feb 19, 2012 Reviewed on PS3, X360Read full review - The only thing that seems a bit off about Warp is the fact it seems to suffer from an identity crisis. On one hand, the cartoony presentation and humorous plot is lighthearted and full of charm. Otherwise, taking in the numerous other factors driving the experience, Warp is an excellent, intelligently crafted game that ranks high on our list of this year’s must-have downloadable titles.
