- War Hospital offers a decent management experience with nice flavor. There aren’t many games that use World War I as a setting and even less than ask fans to actually heal people rather than kill them. The game’s management aspect is well-executed, although the core gameplay loop tends to become repetitive. The development team also delivers a good recreation of the first worldwide conflict, with a focus on the frailty of humanity and the incredibly limited tools doctors and nurses had to save lives. I hope that Brave Lamb Studio takes the best ideas of War Hospital and refines them, either for DLC or a sequel.
Cosmin Vasile · Feb 13, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - At times satisfying, but more often than not devastating, War Hospital delivers an important message, and it does so in a very effective manner. This is a game that perfectly encapsulates the horror of war, showing the efforts of its true heroes. It’s not perfect, as at the time of writing, there are several glitches present in the game, and the UI seems to work against you. There are a lot of rough edges here, and we hope to see many of them resolved with future patches, but even in its current state, there are plenty of reasons to give War Hospital a go.
SebastiaanRaats · Jan 29, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Και είναι κρίμα, γιατί σαν παραγωγή το War Hospital έχει κάτι να πει.
Κωνσταντίνος Καλκάνης · Jan 25, 2024 Reviewed on PC, PS5, Series X|SRead full review - As much as this engages as a sobering alternative to the likes of Two Point Hospital, a large chunk of it just sees you cycling through familiar motions. The rich atmosphere and worthy setting are compromised by a narrow vision.
Ken Talbot · Jan 24, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - War Hospital is nowhere near the most sophisticated, nor the most polished strategy game money can buy, but it nonetheless does a commendable job of making you feel what managing an overwrought war hospital at the forefront of one of the most deadly wars in human history could be like. Though it's relatively simplistic tactical beats might not appeal to expert strategists, War Hospital's more narrow scope and poignant subject matter do make it a much more easily digestible proposition for both genre newcomers and perhaps more crucially, for first-person shooter folks who have ever given thought to what happens after they pull the trigger on an enemy soldier.
John-Paul Jones · Jan 22, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - On the one hand, War Hospital is successful at setting out an appropriate tone for a terrible time in human history. Unfortunately, it can be a difficult game to crack the surface on. The game can proceed at a slow pace and, despite the ability to speed things up, time can feel like such a precious commodity. The dour visuals and downtrodden narrative can make it very hard to feel encouraged, even by the most minor of victories. The interface can take some getting used to but I think the game's biggest obstacle is the mood itself.
Mike · Jan 17, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - War Hospital is a bleak and brutal management game, but one with an incredible theme and plenty of depth to keep you engaged.
Lyle Carr · Jan 11, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I complain, I complain, but I had fun playing. Basically, I don't have any major complaints about the gameplay, but what bothers me is the sometimes irritating flaws, omissions and errors, as well as the nasty graphics that make themselves felt in the cutscenes. It is clear that the creators ran out of time to refine the game - because the idea for the game and most of its implementation are brilliant.
Grzegorz "Krigor" Karaś · Jan 11, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - This demanding strategy game forces you to embrace the fact that you can’t save everyone, and you may lose more lives if you try, but bugs and a lack of polish mar what is an otherwise great experience.
Julian Benson · Jan 11, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - War Hospital is a primarily functional World War I management simulation game that struggles to establish a meaningful connection between players and their staff and patients. As you progress beyond the initial hours, the gameplay becomes bogged down by repetitive mechanics exacerbated by an inadequate user interface with insufficient tooltips and unclear instructions, accompanied by a host of frustrating bugs that compelled me to frequently reload older save files and restart entire chapters. Despite a promising start, the overall experience is marred by tedium and irritation. Its only redeeming quality lies in its exploration of a scenario rarely seen in the management genre. However, this alone does not warrant an immediate recommendation.
