- The game largely accomplishes what it sets out to do and pulls off some generally impressive presentation, but with sights set on rudimentary mechanics it struggles to satisfy beyond being a semi-adequate tie-in to the show.
Jon Wahlgren · Feb 13, 2013 Reviewed on Wii U, 3DSRead full review - As a cartoon tie-in aimed at a very specific demographic, Transformers Prime does a pretty good job defining its setting an action. It just doesn’t go far enough. A decent kids game that gets old a little bit too fast, Prime just won't quite measure up for Transformers fans that frankly have shinier, better toys to play with.
Game Trailers · Dec 10, 2012 Reviewed on Wii U - I consider myself a Transformers fan, but no amount of appreciation for the series makes me comfortable recommending Transformers: Prime. The benign gameplay may be a good option for fans too young for the gritty action of High Moon’s excellent series, but that’s about it.
Tim Turi · Dec 05, 2012 Reviewed on Wii U - All I know is, if your idea of a brilliant joke is hearing a robot say "scrap" instead of "crap" every few minutes, Transformers Prime is for you. Not only does it perform that exact joke with that same regularity, your laughing at it qualifies you as stupid enough to think Prime is worth money.
Jim Sterling · Dec 04, 2012 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Transformers Prime: The Game might not be the hardcore experience that a lot of gamers want or expect, but I really don’t think that this was ever its intent. Although it is a solid experience for the young gamers in your family it is one that parents are likely to navigate away from.
Shawn Petraschuk · Nov 29, 2012 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Transformers: Prime - The Game is fun while it lasts, and fun in any form is more than Nintendo fans could have hoped for after years of other, terrible Transformers titles.
Lucas M. Thomas · Nov 28, 2012 Reviewed on Wii U, 3DSRead full review - Young gamers, especially those who enjoy the Transformers Prime cartoon, will find a lot to like in this Wii U adaptation, but everyone else will be put off by its simple gameplay and lack of content. The combat is surprisingly fun, but it’s wrapped up in a repetitive campaign that doesn’t offer enough variety to sustain most gamers’ interest.
Kevin Knezevic · Nov 23, 2012 Reviewed on Wii URead full review - Transformers Prime keeps the game play simple and charming while engaging you with cleverly paced story beats and a variety of different modes to explore and master. Seamless transformations between bot and vehicle make each battle fun and dynamic, and while the story is a tad on the short side, the arcady game design lets you jump in, jump out and replay at your leisure.
T. Monkey · Nov 18, 2012 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - If one aspect of Transformers: Prime stands out in a positive way then it's the boss battles, especially the final boss that has multiple forms and will take you almost as much time to beat as the rest of the game combined, it's just a shame that it too is hampered by poor controls.
Gordon Bryant · Dec 06, 2012 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Not up to par graphically, or in terms of story, difficulty, length, or practically any other measure. The very definition of shovelware, Transformers Prime is a woefully undernourished release that damages both the Wii U and Transformers brands. A budget downloadable than a full title, it’s debatable if Prime should have even seen a release on handhelds, let alone Nintendo’s flagship console.
