  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge Dimension Shellshock DLC is a well-thought-out piece of DLC. The roguelike nature of the survival mode is neat thanks to the various backdrops that are rendered in the modern pixel style and the various powers that tweak the combat for the better. The bonus characters are awesome to play, as they complement the roster without feeling overpowered as their stats would suggest.

  • This has all the charm of the base game, but with a challenging new stand-alone mode that adds quality and value. The opening challenge won't be for everyone and those early runs can be pretty unforgiving, but once you see those unlocks rolling in and with an upgrade or two under your belt, you'll soon wonder why a Turtles roguelike hasn't been on your wishlist from the very beginning. With these added bells and whistles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is still totally tubular, dude.

  • Dimension Shellshock has most of the same strengths as the base game, but a few more shortcomings, as well. The new mode’s roguelite elements lack variety, and its loops aren’t deep or rewarding enough to warrant multiple runs. The gorgeous pixel art and expressive animation don’t get old, but its survival mode is almost as two-dimensional as its sprites.

  • Your goal here is to collect enough Crystal shards to complete a Crystal, opening up a portal to a new environment and increasing the difficulty. With limited lives and no continues, however, it’s a tall order to make it through the handful of stages on offer, all inspired by various stages of Turtles history. Typically you’ll start off in Edo Japan, but other stages on offer here include a the black and white pages of a comic book, and even retro 8-bit streets. Collecting Crystals in these stages is also how you permanently level up your characters in this mode, bolstering their life bars, unlocking new colours, and more.

  • With an addicting new game mode that will test your ninja skills, two new unique and exciting characters to master, and the chance to control the Lord of Kitchen Utensils himself, it’s a must-play update to an already stellar title.

  • Story Mode and Arcade Mode are fun enough, yes. It’s cool seeing the parade of classic stages and scenes, it’s cool fighting all the old enemies. And I love the music and visuals. It all comes together to make a delightful Turtles experience. But Survival Mode is the first time I’ve felt properly compelled to keep playing. It’s deeply frustrating at times, but not in a discouraging way. I want to get better! I want to improve my last run, I want to power up all the characters.

  • TMNT: SR is the game that keeps on giving. They've given us free updates, and now the first paid DLC. If this trend holds, and they keep adding characters and modes, this could become the greatest arcade game of all time. You get to unlock more stuff for nine characters.

  • A wonderful new mode that extends the fun beyond the main stories makes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge – Dimension Shellshock a must buy for those who enjoyed the 2022 turtle based delight. While a couple more characters on the roster and a handful of new story stages wouldn’t have hurt, this is definitely one to pick up if you’re a fan of the heroes in a half shell.

  • If you've been looking for a reason to boot up Shredder's Revenge, this is it. Survival mode adds significant replay value, even as it suffers from repetition and unhelpful perks, and the new playable fighters, particularly Karai, are strong additions. Plus, there are slick new tunes from fan-favorite Tee Lopes. It's time, once again, to kick some shell.

  • A fantastic addition that gives an excellent reason to revisit this great beat ‘em up. The difficulty is definitely a challenge, but for fans, this is a no-brainer!
