  • Does Thief Simulator succeed in bringing out my younger self and bring back that same joy and excitement that I felt five years ago? No, no it does not. That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy myself though. What it lacks graphics-wise and in replay value it makes up with its game mechanics. Who doesn’t want to rob houses and pretend to be a thief in the night?

  • Thief Simulator could have been fantastically fun if there were more to do and if it were more challenging. As it exists now, it's just kind of fun, for a while. I hesitate to recommend a full-price purchase at $19.99, but if it goes on sale for 50% off or more, stealth fans may want to give it a whirl.

  • There is a gem in Thief Simulator somewhere, it’s just one that you need to dig really deep to reach. I hope the forthcoming sequel builds upon this foundation, and thankfully early signs do indicate that it does, so I will definitely keep my eyes peeled. But for the original game, its not quite stolen my heart.

  • If you’re tired of Payday 2’s often loud and at-large robbery antics – and you’d like to take a detour into the more quiet vocation of thievery – Thief Simulator has the new career for you. While it’s not the prettiest of games and it soon starts repeating itself, the sense of freedom you’re given to rob neighbourhoods full of unsuspecting victims is still an intriguing one. He might not be Garrett, but The Thief has plenty of skills to steal a place on Nintendo Switch.

  • Thief Simulator may not have snagged away our attention as much as we initially hoped, but it's still an entertaining enough distraction filled with plenty of tension and player choice. We enjoyed the rush of sneaking around knowing that we had mere minutes to swipe the goods and escape undetected, and its vast toolbox of unlockable gadgets gave us plenty to play with.
