Soulful, powerful, tragic and flawed, the Wolf Among Us won't be remembered as one of the finest adventure games. But it will be remembered nonetheless

  • While The Wolf Among Us has had some high quality chapters, The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 – Cry Wolf is arguably the best of the bunch. It takes all of the storylines we’ve been introduced to thus far and intertwines them together while wrapping up most every one of them. The entire episode is satisfying from beginning to end and Telltale was clearly on top of their game with their conclusion to this noir mystery.

  • Cry Wolf serves as a satisfying conclusion to The Wolf Among Us, delivering on all the promise that previous episodes held. Telltale’s original characters and plot fit perfectly into Bill Willingham’s brilliant world, and every Fables fan will be satisfied with this expansion of the series’ lore. I am absolutely happy with how this season turned out, and I absolutely can’t wait to see where Telltale takes things next.

  • This is one of those rarest of entities: A game that doesn't immediately reveal its true nature, instead having the courage to let it slowly unfurl over the course of nine months. Even now that I think I've seen all The Wolf Among Us is capable of, I'm sincerely hopeful that Telltale gets a chance to defy that expectation.

Overall, I found the journey into Fabletown a delight; filled with memorable characters built on a solid mechanical foundation, and while I believe there more to be done with the formula, it’s the finest Telltale has made so far and well worth experiencing.

  • I can’t say enough good things about ‘The Wolf Among Us’ as a whole. The entire series has been a joy right from the start with smart writing, engaging characters and some painstakingly hard decision making. While investigation takes a bit of a backseat to a more action oriented thrill ride in ‘Cry Wolf’ I can’t think of a better way for this season to have ended off. If you’re debating whether or not to experience ‘The Wolf Among Us’ for yourself I’d recommend that you stop reading right now and just play. You won’t regret it.

  • This is a big, bad adventure, and we think that it deserves to step out of The Walking Dead’s award winning shadow. However, we’d hurry up and play through the first series if we were you – or the Big Bad Wolf may just huff, puff, and blow your house down.

  • With all of that said, I still somewhat enjoyed the episode. I was definitely more frustrated/disappointed than interested/surprised, but there was enough to make me glad I played it. But that may only be because I am a Fables fan. Many references were made to the comics in this episode, and quite a few conversations demonstrated that Telltale had a good grasp of the Fables universe, which I appreciated.

  • The Wolf Among Us Episode 5: Cry Wolf is arguably the series’ finest episode, though it would perhaps be more fitting to say that it’s a great final chapter that represents only part of an excellent piece of genre fiction. If you’ve been holding off on The Wolf Among Us until the first season was complete, then hold no more, because The Wolf Among Us is brilliant.

  • The last episode of the series completes the arc of Bigby's investigation, and you'll be able to exact some final judgment on the perpetrators, but the resolution stumbles a bit after a spectacular climactic action scene. The whole series is excellent, and the conclusion may make you want to replay it to figure some stuff out you might have missed.
