- The Star Named Eos is a short adventure game with some interesting puzzles, which ultimately fails to stand out. At best, it flickers in some moments, but it does not shine. The pacing, the low-res cutscenes, the repetitive pattern of the level design, and the lack of real connection with your character make the experience a rather forgettable one. Fans of the genre will have some fun with the game, but I’d recommend to pick this one up when it’s on sale, so you avoid feeling bad for not having your expectations met.
AUR · Sep 12, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Even though the game was over with the flash of a camera, the story stayed with me like a Polaroid photo. This atmospheric and emotional puzzle adventure is one that should be talked about more and given more attention. Make sure to get your hands on The Star Named EOS and prepare to have your heartstrings pulled.
Ashley Hill · Aug 17, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - You went spend a lot of time in the escape room puzzles of The Star Named EOS, but the time you will spend there is fun, creative, and captivating.
Sophie Hiner · Aug 16, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - With camera in hand and a twinkle in your eye, The Star Named EOS guides you down memory lane in a simply sweet, but almost too-short narrative puzzle game. This is a decent voyage for casual puzzle enjoyers and those who don't mind a shorter experience overall.
Corvo Rohwer · Aug 13, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Me being sad at having finished The Star Named EOS is a good indicator of how I feel about it as a whole - I enjoyed it and wanted more. It knows what it wants to be: a cozy heartfelt little puzzle game and it succeeds in being exactly that.
Martijn van Gent · Aug 03, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The Star Named EOS is a beautifully hand-drawn puzzle adventure that follows Dei, a young photographer, on a sentimental journey to uncover the truth about his mother's past through recreating old photographs. With clever escape room-esque puzzles and a captivating storyline, this game offers a short yet emotionally rich experience for fans of narrative-driven games.
Jennifer Rahman · Aug 01, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - All those puzzles weave together to create a satisfying conclusion to Dei's journey that lands with impact, even if the pacing in the middle of the tale dips a little. Marrying the puzzles with the story is a gorgeous art style and stunning animation that consistently looks incredible, and has made the game stick in our mind. The Star Named EOS is a lovely, bitesized, personal tale that's easy to connect with and enjoy if you're a fan of similar narrative-led experiences and hidden object puzzle games.
Echo Apsey · Jul 31, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Across 10 chapters, Dei explores his innermost thoughts while making sense of his mother’s letters, finding himself in the process. A brief narrative most will be able to finish in one sitting, The Star Named EOS is one of those heartwarming stories that when the realities of the world wear you down, it will be there to tuck you in and make you feel safe, as you drift off into a deep slumber.
AndresPlays · Jul 30, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The Star Named EOS has a fairytale vibe to it like the start of a Pixar movie, but the same breezy pace and lightness of detail can also make the story feel flat or overly sentimental. Still, there’s a pleasant and affecting time for those who can slow down and enjoy it.
