  • ... It works extremely well on the New 3DS, with the system’s rubber clit working surprisingly well in manipulating the camera. The 3D pops more than most other 3DS games I’ve played, sometimes to the point of nearly confusing my eyes, but it’s a gorgeous upgrade to the original title. Some elements have been retooled to make the game more convenient and less frustrating, but most players should find them welcome timesavers as opposed to “dumbing down for the filthy casuals,” while the touchscreen menus are a godsend considering how ponderous the inventory management is.

  • Delightfully bizarre, and with a structure not found often, Majora’s Mask easily stands the test of time. There’s simply nothing else quite like it. The improvements made to game performance and usability dramatically outweigh any new issues, and this version is the best way to experience this one-of-a-kind game.

  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is a must play game now, even more so than it was when it first launched. This experimental installment in the series is a boundary-expanding triumph. It challenges people's perception of Link's adventures and action RPGs in general. The time limit makes things feel more real, and the masks make the game more compelling. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D may deal with dark matters, but it will light up your life.

  • Majora's Mask for 3DS makes a fantastic game better by giving it a graphical upheaval as well as making it accessible to new players. Whether you've played it or not it's worth picking Majora's Mask up!

  • Majora’s Mask 3D’s small but significant changes push it just far enough ahead of Ocarina of Time 3D to make it as unique of an experience as it was fifteen years ago. While it plays just fine on any 3DS system, it’s clear that this game is meant to be played on the New 3DS.

  • Many people overlooked Majora’s Mask originally because it wasn’t “Ocarina of Time 2.” As its 3DS revival shows, however, Majora’s Mask is in many ways superior to its N64 predecessor. Nintendo and Grezzo have made a cult-classic more accessible, refined and enjoyable than ever before, and its return to the spotlight has cemented just how ahead of its time it was. Some of its flaws live on in this 3DS remaster, but ultimately The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is a game that absolutely deserves three days of your time.

The complaints that kept some people from playing it originally have been addressed, and anyone who either passed it up or never had the opportunity before should give it a shot. For those who loved the original like me, happiness awaits. After years of petitioning we have our Majora’s Mask remake, and it’s absolutely worth the time.

  • Nintendo didn't go above and beyond the call of duty with The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, but the improvements do in fact make it a more playable experience. Many of the frustrating elements from the original are gone, and because of the nature of the three-day cycle, it's a perfect thing to pick up, play, and turn off after one cycle completes. Majora still isn't my favorite Zelda, but I'm much more inclined to go back to it on the 3DS.

  • Still, as a new version of a game many never played, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D has plenty of improvements that overall make it a more playable experience. In fact, the live, die, repeat nature of the game seems more at home on a portable device than a console (despite that fact that I would rather play in on my Wii U).

  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask has long been one of the most underrated gems of The Legend of Zelda franchise and now a whole new generation will get to experience the magic that gamers felt nearly 15 years ago on the Nintendo 64. Full of improvements that range from subtle to very visible, this is without a doubt the definitive version of an already spectacular game. Coinciding with the release of the New Nintendo 3DS, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is a wondrous blast from the past that is a must buy for any 3DS owner.
