  • What appeals to individual gamers is, of course, subjective but I’ve long felt that Elder Scrolls Online is the best MMORPG on consoles thanks to its world-building, lore, quests, story, and ability to reward both solo and group experiences equally. The recent introduction of companions made a solo-friendly game even more inviting. With the Enhanced Version, Elder Scrolls Online definitely steps up as the best looking and smoothest running MMORPG you can find on the PS5, and no longer feels in any way inferior to the PC version.

  • The Console Enhanced version of The Elder Scrolls Online should probably remove the Enhanced portion of it’s title. With only a minuscule improvement in visuals over PS4 Pro and multiple crashes, players should stick with the older client.

  • Since its release, the game has seen numerous discounts already, making it an even better time to jump into it, whether you're a fan of Elder Scrolls, or simply wanted an MMO on your console without a monthly commitment, that you can freely jump back into at your own leisure. The controls have been perfectly tuned to consoles, making it very easy to jump in and get acclimated.

  • Fans will enjoy the lack of a subscription requirement given that in the past the game was strictly subscription only. Now all players who want the experience will have to do is purchase the base game, however there is still the option of a subscription which will just boost up experience earned and give a few minor bonuses to the player. There is a lot to explore in the world of Tamriel and fans will have a great time doing so.

  • It's missing that spark of magic that enticed us to get lost in Skyrim or Morrowind for months, or that made us happy to fork over a monthly fee just to access our current favorite game. It seems like so much effort was put into forcibly translating Elder Scrolls' style into the genre's norms, but the payoff for that effort isn't there. Even in its best moments, Elder Scrolls Online is merely a competent traditional MMO; at its worst, it flubs even that.

  • Maybe I'm a masochist, but I suspect I'll continue to return to The Elder Scrolls Online in the months ahead. Without a monthly subscription, my inner-Magellan is willing to weather the troubles just to see more of Tamriel. At no point have I thought to myself, "Alright, I've seen enough of this world." If exploration doesn't speak to you at some primal level, The Elder Scrolls Online is an easy pass (Final Fantasy XIV, WoW, and Guild Wars 2 are all much better uses of your money), but, to paraphrase a certain Jack Twist, Tamriel, I wish I knew how to quit you.

  • As an Elder Scrolls game, however, it misses the mark somewhat, and simply doesn't have what it takes to match its single player brethren. It could be an MMO with any name slapped on it and still be as enjoyable, so fans of The Elder Scrolls series may want to hold off it they're after more of the same, and if you're considering this as a viable first step into the world of the MMORPG, there are more accessible options out there.

  • The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is a long term commitment. It is a game that is meant to be played over time, with nuances to the game that you may never even encounter, depending on how you decide to play the game.

  • The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, despite its small issues, is an excellent game and easily an essential title for any PS4 and Xbox One owner. In the name of The Nine, I urge you to add this to your collection – or face Tiber Septim’s wrath!

  • The controller is a far superior input, the interface is much cleaner and more accessible, the voice chat is ideal for grouping, the subscription is now free, and it brings the MMO genre to the console platform that has few competitors at present.
