- For a game comprised almost entirely of combat it fails to follow through with any real level of depth, and devolves into repetitive button mashing with color cued responses. The story starts off with a cool premise, but fails to follow through by getting lost in tedious long winded dialogue, while shallow characters adhere to predictable stereotypes
Tyler Minarik · Nov 16, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Its biggest flaw is that it lacks spirit, which is ironic, since the game is actually trying to take your character's soul. Without a spark, though - even a stolen one - The Cursed Crusade has ended up damning itself
Kimberley Wallace · Oct 26, 2011 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Slow, clunky combat becomes infinitely more frustrating as the game continues throwing absurdly large groups of enemies at you. Both the story and the gameplay go nowhere; this is possibly the worst game I’ve played in 2011
Phil Kollar · Oct 26, 2011 Reviewed on X360 - A lethargic combat experience marred further by grotesque bugs, The Cursed Crusade is a game that truly does feel cursed, like no amount of hard work would put it right. It's a shame, because the developers clearly tried hard and the narrative occasionally provides a glimmer of hope, but ultimately this is a game that needed to be scrapped and started again from scratch because there was no saving it
Jim Sterling · Oct 25, 2011 Reviewed on X360Read full review - The Cursed Crusade struggles in all areas. The combat is sluggish and awkward, the exploration is unrewarding because of the invisible walls that block off areas or refuse to let you return to previous sections, and the story is nonsense
Ashton Raze · Oct 13, 2011 Reviewed on PS3, X360Read full review - The Cursed Crusade is a perfect example of the sort of game that’s being squeezed out nowadays: badly produced, cheaply made and full of tired clichés, both in gameplay and in its story. I feel sorry for it in a way, but not sorry enough to recommend it as a pity-purchase. It’s slow-paced, treacley, overly simple, and long-winded enough to bore you to tears
Keza Macdonald · Oct 12, 2011 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Just as well the sound effects are so hilarious. Kylotonn puts a fair few voice actors in play, so why, precisely, they felt obliged to rely on the same absurd "dropped saucepan" and "foot in cowpat" samples throughout eludes us. Congratulations, Cursed Crusade - but for these unintentional comic touches, you'd be one of the worst games we've ever played
Edwin Evans-Thirlwell · Oct 07, 2011 Reviewed on X360 - Too clumsy to satisfy any action gaming urge, and too wrapped up in its own turgid mythology to realise it's getting things so badly wrong, releasing it right before the onslaught of massive winter releases is a decision more audacious than any design choices in the game itself
