- With an inconsistent story, total absence of scares, and clunky combat, Final Transmission makes for a shallow last gasp of air for The Callisto Protocol. This new franchise has been lost in space since launch and an onslaught of patches and DLC hasn’t made it any less of a disappointment. Final Transmission just highlights what was already bad about The Callisto Protocol, and ensures that it has ended as poorly as it began.
Michael Leri · Jun 28, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - There is a new story DLC promised for the summer and hopefully, the disappointing sales for the game to date will not delay this as the game has much going for it and while it is not Dead Space, it is a very worthy and enjoyable time for those willing to be patient with it and the issues.
gareth · Feb 04, 2023 Reviewed on PC, PS5, Series X|S, PS4, XB1Read full review - I’ve been pretty excited for The Callisto Protocol, which is probably why I was so disappointed after I saw the credits roll. Maybe I wanted to play another Dead Space game and thought this would quench my thirst for it, but this is certainly not it.
Cosmin Vasile · Jan 02, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The game strikes me as a conglomerate of ideas, like a novel approach to dodging, a similar but different storyline, and tough combat borrowed from challenging games like Dark Souls, packed into a beautifully presented game.
Jon Davis · Dec 28, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Overall, it is a genuine sci-fi survival horror adventure that doesn't offer anything groundbreaking but does know how to please lovers of the genre. Despite its brief length, the game provides a satisfying survival horror experience in a range of settings, carried out by a superb cast.
Rayan · Dec 20, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - The game’s depiction of excessive violence is fun but even it wears on to the point of feeling overboard, especially when you think why they have giant grinding machines in the open like this in the middle of a prison. The story, while predictable, was an enjoyable adventure, but as far as graphics this game looks incredible.
Terrence Johnson · Dec 19, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - The Callisto Protocol has all the right ingredients for what could have been a phenomenal action-horror experience. Sure, it was still a great time, but repetitive combat and enemy designs mixed with a lackluster story leave for a somewhat underwhelming experience but one that was dripping in atmosphere and phenomenal visuals.
Kyle Nicol · Dec 19, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Amazing graphics and talented voice acting isn’t enough to save The Callisto Protocol from the beast that is bad game mechanics. The game is its own worst enemy.
Devin Shea · Dec 17, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - There’s enough open world/live service games in the market as it is, and Callisto has some degree of freedom with hidden rooms or extra caches of ammo or upgrades: all with the mostly welcome burden of inventory management.
Chris Carter · Dec 16, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The Callisto Protocol is a game where the journey is what counts the most and the destination is not really something you look forward to.
