  • Really though, it’s The Binding of Isaac on your phone. That’s awesome. If you’ve had your fill with any of the other versions on almost every other video game platform imaginable, then you probably don’t need to check this one out — but otherwise, it’s definitely a good time.

  • No game will give you more to find and discover than The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth will. This could conceivably be the only game you play for the rest of the year, considering how much time you'd have to spend to be good at the game, and then unlocking everything there is to see in Rebirth. And it's a ton of fun along the way. It took a long time to get here, but enjoy this one, folks.

  • I highly recommend picking up The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth if you have never played the game before or just can’t get enough Isaac in your life, since this port contains a ton of new stuff.

  • The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth‘s pixel perfect visuals are somewhat chilling in their blood-soaked design, but the aesthetic and accompanying soundscape suit the horrifying surroundings in which Isaac finds himself. It may have inadvertently taken longer than expected, but The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth makes a welcome arrival on the Nintendo eShop. Those that can withstand the somewhat grim setting will find a particularly rewarding experience that will ensnare you for hours on end.

  • It's also worth noting that this is the second piece of software that's exclusive to the New 3DS, so if you're itching to get some use out of the thing, Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is your only other option after Xenoblade. And honestly, there are times where the game chugs a little--you can watch the hardware rolling dice and calculating totals. It's not a problem, though, and I think it's more funny than anything.

  • The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is one of the most addictive roguelikes we've ever played. It's the kind of game that might appear a bit rudimentary at first, but it becomes more and more compelling with each subsequent session.

  • It's gross, but also funny, striking up a great balance between discomfort and fun that gives its visuals an interesting appeal. All of its various elements just click together well, creating a solid game that will be hard to put down as you struggle your way to the deepest recesses of Isaac's basement.

  • The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is an accomplished update to a fantastic game, an experience as charming as it is sinister. It nails the addictive qualities of any good roguelike-inspired game, then layers a series of grotesquely captivating themes on top, laced with the blackest of humor and propelled by a multitude of reasons to play, replay, and replay again.

  • In the end, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is an improvement in nearly every way to the original. It is a fun, highly addictive, and immersive experience that will grip you with its unique design, tight gameplay, high replay value, and compelling cast of characters. The Binding of Isaac Rebirth is one of the better games I have played this year, maybe of all time.

The time I’ve spent with Binding of Isaac: Rebirth has been non-stop fun and surprises, with just a tad too much frustration when I lose a rare item. But even when it slaps me down harder than I’d have liked, starting again is always a treat, because I’m likely to discover something new and darkly comedic. That’s plenty of motivation to keep right on playing this amazing game.
