- TerraTech is a super fun game that, thanks to its gameplay, will have you playing for quite some time. Killing enemies to grow stronger is something normal in an RPG but literally building your warship out of parts stolen from fallen foes is something that goes deeper and has a bigger “up yours” factor. Join or die! Graphics are decent for this Switch port and the music is good. The only lesser part is the fact that fun is limited to one’s imagination. Some will be able to spend hours or even days on the same map.
MC_JP · Jun 06, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Payload hit pay dirt when they dropped TerraTech, a fun, time suck that lets you build crazy vehicles and blow stuff up. It’s been a big hit for them and well earned! However, the port over to console seems to have a hit a bit of a snag as the controls are almost unusable in a game that demands tight controls. For as much time as I’d like to continue to sink into this game, trying to master the controls that seem to be designed to fight you was a lesson in futility which I don’t hope to repeat any time soon.
Doug Mercer · Sep 11, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - TerraTech showcases its strengths proudly in focusing on vehicular creations, whilst leaving the rest of the world behind. Unfortunately, this immediately limits both the immersion and enjoyment found within, and leaves the experience feeling like an early-access title awaiting a larger content pack.
Nick Hanchet · Jul 27, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Building LEGO-like vehicles, and having them explore a vast world, do quests, and shoot at other, similar tanks or planes, might sound like a fine idea for a construction sandbox, but TerraTech isn't really that good at what it does, for the simple reason that this just isn't fun to play, especially since the transition to the Nintendo Switch has you doing all that building and rebuilding with controls that feel out of place.
Ofisil · Jun 10, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - At the core of TerraTech is an extensive mechanical construction kit that presents an interesting canvas for creative players. However, the Switchâs significant UI shortcomings, a cumbersome console control scheme, and a limited-feeling campaign will ensure that only persistent players stick around long enough to find the fun.
Stephanie Woor · May 29, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - TerraTech is by no means bad, and there's a lot to like and have fun with in it. The car creation aspect is wonderfully creative, and it's a lot of fun building up the car (or weird shambling monstrosity) of your dreams. A lot of effort went into this creation element, but it seems like nothing else was thought out in nearly as much detail. Creation is every bit as enjoyable as you think, but this never really gets around to having anything interesting to do with it.
