  • Terraria is a $4.99 premium game also available on Google Play Pass. Despite the slightly awkward touch controls, it’s a masterpiece of a game that should not be overlooked. I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves pixel-art graphics, butt-clenching boss fights, and a giant world of crafting and adventuring.

  • Ultimately, Terraria on Switch is a boon to anyone who has not had a chance to play portable Terraria yet. The only catch (and this affected me greatly) is that those of us who are used to mouse and keyboard controls may have a hard time adjusting to the Switch button layout and may feel like the control scheme is somewhat clunky. I will admit something that took me a fraction of a second on the Steam version — dumping duplicate items into multiple nearby chests for storage — took several minutes on the Switch version.

  • That Terraria continues to receive ports to new systems is a testament to the game’s playability. It continues to attract new fans while prompting long-time players to double- and even triple-dip. I don’t think you need the Switch version if you’re already set up on your other gaming system(s) of preference (especially at the current price). If the Switch is your only option, however, it’s good enough for us to offer a recommendation. Let’s just hope the developers manage to dig up and build couch co-op before night falls again.

  • Terraria has aged fairly well, and the Switch version captures that same magic that made it so popular, despite its problems.

  • Terraria on Switch takes some getting used to, but once you do it’s an absolute blast to play. Currently, the Switch version is on the latest content update so there is no big gap between other platforms. There’s just a matter of price, as you will be paying a serious premium pricetag to get hold of the Switch version as opposed to every other (much cheaper) version of the game. Just something to be aware of.

  • We’d ultimately give this one a recommendation, as the dozens of hours of content and simple, open-ended nature of Terraria’s gameplay prove to make a strong case for why this one deserves a spot on your Switch’s home screen, but if co-op is an important factor for you, we’d suggest you either wait this one out or just pick it up for another platform.

  • Terraria is an entertainment experience that seems rather simple from screenshots alone, but hides a lot of charm underneath with literally dozens (or hundreds!) of hours well worth your time. The Nintendo Switch version has the potential to grant it new life, both on singleplayer and multiplayer, even if the actual building isn't as natural as one would expect.

  • If you haven’t played Terraria, but are looking for an entry point that marries some mobile conveniences with the console experience, Terraria on the Nintendo Switch is a great place for you to begin your journey. The touch screen controls, while more challenging for precise building, add a positive dimension to the crafting and inventory management systems. While multiplayer support is limited to live services at launch, when you pair the aforementioned quality of life features with the tried-and-true gameplay experience that Terraria has developed over these past eight years, you have a winning formula.

  • If you have both a 3DS and Wii U and were patient enough to wait and see how this version turned out, then let it be known that this is definately the better release. If you're looking for a compelling sandbox-style game with tons to do and optional online co-op, look no further - you've found it.

  • Overall, Terraria is a great game that is only sometimes held back by its lack of guidance. Unfortunately the very thing that makes the game awesome is also what makes it quite often frustrating. It’s a hard balance to strike, and Terraria almost nails it, but just a little more guidance would be nice to keep you feeling like you’re constantly making good progress, rather than just going round in circles.
