  • Honestly, we kinda expected Tekken 6 to look better. The stages are well designed and the character models chunky, but the game just lacks a level of fidelity that would bring it into the next-generation, rather than looking like a beefy Playstation 2-era game. Even after a hefty install, Tekken 6 takes a fairly long time to load. If you don't install, you may aswell not even bother. That's how long it takes.

  • Tekken 6 is the most complete Tekken experience so far. It features a large roster, strong customization options, and tight mechanics, and it's sure to be a time sink as you enjoy battle after battle and strive to perfect your skills. If you're a newcomer, the game is as welcoming as ever, and there's plenty here to keep you occupied until you're ready to start busting out your own combos. If you're a fighting fan or are just curious to dip a tentative fist into the genre, then Tekken 6 is the game for you.

  • As a fighting game, Tekken 6 proves why it’s been a consistent success for over a decade. Controls and combos are incredibly tight, and the entire package is dripping with polish. Despite the lackluster Scenario Campaign, it’s still a solid purchase for fighting fans.

  • Newcomers will still find the game accessible (more so than almost every other fighting game on the market, including SF4), and might even enjoy spectacular success, especially with characters with special moves receptive to button bashing. And veterans will still find the nuanced fighting system rewarding to master and, essentially, pixel perfect. But in a year destined to be remembered as the one that saw the resurgence of the fighting game, Tekken 6's star is too dull to shine brightest.

  • Tekken 6 has plenty of merits to go on without riding its predecessors' coattails. With a solid battle system that incorporates plenty of defensive techniques and emphasizes combo mastery, this fighter will keep you engaged for quite some time. Add a brawl-style story mode and plenty of online possibilities, and you've got yourself a fighter that deserves to be played.

Although beginners can get by in Tekken 6 by mashing buttons, the real fun comes from learning the game's intricate sub-systems and developing a sense of the mind games that play out about between two skilled opponents. Tekken 6 has a lot to offer, including a massive roster, refined gameplay, plenty of modes, online multiplayer and an absurd amount of character customization options.

  • Tekken 6 is far from perfect but it's still a solid fighter and superior to the likes of KOFXII for head-to-head couch play. The new modes and features do little to change the classic formula, but the sixth King of Iron Fist Tournament is nonetheless deep, balanced and rewarding to those who invest the time. It's also very accessible to those who just want to dabble with an intuitive fighter and not spend hours in the practice mode.

  • Tekken 6 is a worthy successor to Dark Resurrection and ultimately one of the best entries in this venerable franchise to date. Still, the online experience could have been better, the Scenario Campaign feels decidedly lacking and the load times leave a lot to be desired. When all’s said and done, though, so long as you aren’t expecting any radical changes, this bout of Tekken is just as brutally compelling as it's always been.

Tekken 6 sees the return of many familiar faces as well as new characters to create the largest line-up the series has ever seen. Adding to the already rich gaming experience, a deeper character customization feature will only further enhance the incredible fighting intensity as players knuckle up against each others.
