- Ultimately, it’s an extremely well-made conversion of a beloved board game to a system that’s pretty much perfect for it. The only real caveats are the excess of DLC and – let’s face it – the fairly unbalanced gameplay of the original Talisman. It’s a wonderful version of a game we love, but if you demand an absolutely level playing field in your entertainment, you may want to knock a point or two off this score.
Stuart Gipp · Mar 22, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - At $30, the game is definitely pricey, and though the multiple expansions helps compensate for that, the only people I can really see utilizing them are those who are already fans of the board game to begin with. If you fit into that category or are simply looking for a fun, no-frills digital board game experience, Talisman is one of the better options out there.
Grady Penna · Mar 15, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Talisman Digital Edition is a fun, if random experience. While player choice is part of the game, nearly everything comes down to the roll of the die. The game can overstay its welcome, although there are built in “house rule” options that let players tweak it to suit their preferred play style. Talisman is a great “beer and pretzels” style game that is best played with friends where the conversations had during play are as important, if not more important, than the game itself.
Travis Williams · Jan 27, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - One improvement I would love to see to this app is the ability to ban certain heroes and give a random choice of 2-4 heroes for each player to choose from. It would be another step to controlling the randomness that, in general, this game excels at. If you haven't picked this game up, and you can stomach some bad dice results, it's time you rolled into this one full speed.
Andrew Fretz · Nov 05, 2014 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Still, at seven bucks Talisman is probably worth picking up, even if only to decide if one feels like dropping around sixty for the full version. And hey, with the right group of friends even flawed classics are still fun to play once in a while.
Rob Thomas · May 13, 2014 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - If you’re looking for a way to play Talisman online with random opponents, then this app will surely disappoint you. However, if you’re looking for an excellent single-player version of Talisman to pass the time with, then this app will mostly satisfy you. And if you are looking for a way to play the game in-person with friends with all the streamlining and automation that a digital version provides, then smash the buy button right now.
Mike Lawhun · May 08, 2014 Reviewed on iOS - After an uphill battle, we can now enjoy Talisman: Digital Edition. Initially, it didn’t want us to play, with its ‘will this do?’ tutorial, terrible controls and interminable slowness. But, after hours of persistence, we’ve found our workarounds. Like the heroes of the game, we’ve overcome multiple trials, and opened the chest to reveal a modest treasure: an esoteric, old-school little board game, half Snakes & Ladders, half Dungeons & Dragons. We might even chuck some cash down for an expansion.
Dave Ozzy · Jun 16, 2021 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Talisman is an efficient recreation of the board game, right down to the pricey expansion packs available separately. There is a rich variety of content for intrepid adventurers, if you can handle the moderately user-friendly menu system.
Ben Bulbeck · May 05, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Fans of the original Talisman board game may find the Digital Edition enjoyable, but the fact that so many characters are locked behind microtransactions, and the overall experience often amounts to a high-speed gankfest, I find it hard to recommend Talisman to anyone but the hardcore fanbase.
Mick Fraser · Mar 24, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - There is magic in Talisman. It's in being sat around a table with some drinks and close friends, in socketing the expansion boards (yet to go on sale for the Digital Edition) around the central one until the game can hardly fit on your table. It's in watching your friends struggle to make a name for themselves in the cruelest of worlds. But sadly, it's never been more absent.
