  • My time with SuperMash was interesting, to say the least. Some mashups were extremely fun, while others were just boring. I have to say it is a game that is going to give you a different experience almost every time you play, and while story mode isn’t too intriguing, I can’t say fully it is a bad game. That said, I couldn’t say that it is an amazing game either.

There is a lot to love about SuperMash, and I had a blast making new games. I still pop it in even now to see what it will throw at me. I really hope the DLC delivers and it will continue to earn a spot on my hard drive. I definitely recommend this for fans of classic Nintendo and those like me who want quick and bite-sized experiences.

  • SuperMash is an unfortunate example of a concept working better on paper than in execution. Whilst the mashing system is fun to mess around with and watch the first few times, that magic quickly wears off and all you’re left with is the poorest imitations of great game genres.

  • SuperMash is a great idea that feels squandered thanks to poor execution. The idea of mashing together different genres is a fun one, but the reality is that the resulting games are only mildly amusing at best, and infuriatingly broken at worst. Procedural generation certainly has its place in the industry, with many games using it to fine effect.

  • SuperMash to me had a goal in mind, and that goal was to create a variety of games for the player to play out of different types of genres. It executed it’s goal perfectly but even so, I feel that a few more additions to the game itself would make it even better and more entertaining than it already is.

  • Not only are the mashes repetitive, they're also very short, shallow, and often just plain bad. Sometimes frustrating, sometimes too easy, sometimes impossible -- the randomised nature of mashing hurts more than it helps. Sadly, the novel concept isn't backed up by the execution required to make it work. While some of the mashes show some fun combinations of genre tropes, the majority of what you'll play in SuperMash is a bit of a mess.

  • All in all, SuperMash succeeds because, even though it might have some flaws in its technical department, it’s still a fantastic idea that leaves a lot of room for experimentation and replayability. I have already played more than fifty mishmashes and I feel I have only scratched the surface of what this game has to offer. It’s an incredible concept that has managed to pay off, but there’s still a lot that can be improved.

  • There may very well be countless Mashes you can produce with the tools on offer, but they aren’t different enough from one another. If you’re curious and don’t mind a variety of fairly shallow experiences, you might consider SuperMash-ing the eShop purchase button. Otherwise, maybe stick to the Monster Mash.

  • SuperMash is essentially an uninteresting and rough minigame collection. Given how intriguing the premise could be, this is quite a disappointment – but to craft a game where you can mix and match several different genres is quite an undertaking. Here, the undertaking has failed. This is a mashed-up experience with more annoyance than engagement.

  • SuperMash is a unique concept – what do you get when you smush together two different genres of games? In this case, a mixed bag. SuperMash, a game where two of six classic console genres are combined for something new and different, comes across as a brilliant idea with mediocre implementation – with some revisions to and improvements of existing content, the experience could be much more enjoyable.
