  • Overall, Super Toy Cars is a racing game that looks great on the surface, though ends up being slightly disappointing with its lack of content and general repetition. At $9.99, it’s still fun enough to consider purchasing if you’re looking for a new driving experience, or if you’re majorly into Micro Machines. Otherwise, stick with the classics.

  • Far from an offensively bad title, but also far from a passable game, Super Toy Cars is just a little mediocre title. It’s a game that can be mildly entertaining for a few minutes, but not engaging enough to grab your attention for a long time. It’s pretty hard to recommend Super Toy Cars to Switch owners when Mario Kart is already available for it.

  • Super Toy Cars is a decent enough tabletop racer that will have fans of the classics like Micro Machines taking a quick nostalgic trip down memory lane, but it never manages to live up to the games from which it clearly takes its inspiration. You’ll get some fun out of throwing your car around the cute tracks, but the temperamental physics and inaccurate contact between your car and its surroundings has the potential to frustrate players before that happens. Not a bad game, then, but one that is a few grid positions behind its competitors.

  • Super Toy Cars was a lot of fun, and really brought back some great memories. Is it worth the price? You’ll have to decide for yourself. Fans of the micro-machines style racing games will find the $10USD more than reasonable, while others might not see the value. Definitely a great time with a couple of friends, but don’t expect a free ride without a few hurdles.

While it does have its issues, the racing is fine and the look of it all is interesting and fun. It’s not going to blow anyone’s socks off, but it does offer a decent racing experience if you’re able to handle the issues it has. There’s a decent amount to do for the single player gamer, but people looking for a competitive experience will have to look elsewhere.

  • Super Toy Cars is an interesting idea that succeeds in some areas, but fails in others. If you don’t mind a few issues, give this one a shot, otherwise, I would stick with something else.

  • With Super Toy Cars, you either embrace the weird physics and accept that this is a cheap, silly experience, or you don’t. Adopting the former mentality will net you a fun ride at a decent price, and though there are definitely far better racers on Wii U, the nostalgic may want to open the toy-box one more time. Boosted by an in-game track editor, it’s a solid chunk of content that will amuse if nothing else.

  • Super Toy Cars had the potential to be a fantastic title on the Nintendo Switch but technical problems and poor design choices leave it as a decent title at best.

  • Super Toy Cars feels like a preview build of a game that is not yet ready for home release. Races play out as expected, and the power-ups do exactly as they are supposed to, while the AI racers provide enough of a challenge to make this fun. However, a huge abundance of glitches ruin the overall gloss, as some walls or other environmental track obstacles are not programmed as solid, while trying to initiate a couch-multiplayer race is a most painful experience.

  • However, what good will Super Toy Cars builds with these standout features is lost in the overall package due to the poor performance of the game. While performance issues in handheld mode are less prevalent, I found the performance in docked mode to be quite frustrating. At times I found the framerate inconsistency to be so jarring it would cause me to have difficulty controlling the car and sometimes even crash.
