  • How do you make one of 2009's best releases even better? You take a leaf out of Super Street Fighter IV's book by listening to player's criticism, adding a heap of new characters, and releasing it all at a budget price.

  • With an expansive cast, upgraded features, and extremely strong online support, it's hard for Super Street Fighter IV to not track on any fighting fan's radar. But even at a reduced price, reluctance to drop cash on this sophomore effort is certainly understandable. Penny pinching pugilists may give pause, but let your fears be dissuaded: Super Street Fighter IV is worth every single cent.

  • It's Street Fighter IV, but better. On the plus side, pretty much all of the additions and changes were positive ones, and the huge new roster is a ton of fun to play around with. On the negative side, it hasn't changed enough to win you over if you didn't like the original, and one could argue that it simply hasn't changed enough to be worth a buy, period. Still, at only $40 it's a lot easier on your wallet than a full-fledged game.

  • When you combine everything that Super Street Fighter IV has to offer, Capcom has crafted a game that you will be challenging your friends and online foes to for quite some time to come. Out of all the fighting games available, the $40 asking price for SSFIV is but a small fee for the premiere fighting game on the PS3. With such a diverse and deep amount of content crammed onto the disc, along with the highly addictive gameplay, this is the fighter that no fighting game fan should be without. Get. It. Now.

  • Super Street Fighter IV stands tall on the broad shoulders of its predecessor. Its large and diverse character roster, balance tweaks, and comprehensive online play reaffirm its place as one of the best fighters this generation, and it's a worthy upgrade even if you own last year's version. The results are improvements in every aspect of the game, making this a must-have for series fans and Internet brawlers.

  • Technically, Super Street Fighter IV is on par with its predecessor. Visuals are virtually the same, aside from a technically spectacular opening cutscene. Although you will see some new costume elements for characters returning from Street Fighter IV, you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference between the two going by visuals alone. Voiceovers are hit or miss, but the background music is delightful to listen to.

  • Of course, a fighting game is only fun if you're matched up with like-minded, similarly skilled opposition, and in this respect, the game seems to be able to help you have fun, regardless of your skill level. SSFIV makes last year's fighting game a lot better, and it does it at a less-than-full retail price. Like I said up top, if you've got any interest in fighting games at all, Super Street Fighter IV is a killer deal.

  • Any Street Fighter fans, even those who quit playing the original and moved on, should be picking up Super. If you missed out on Street Fighter IV but are interested in fighting games, Super is an excellent purchase for you as well. Personally, I consider Street Fighter IV to be one of the best fighting games we've seen in a long time, and Super Street Fighter IV does nothing but improve on it. Buy this game.

  • At the end of the day, though, Super is a tremendous update to a tremendous game. It addresses many of IV's weaknesses, subtly tweaks old features so that they work better, and introduces some characters that exceed the high quality bar set in February last year. It is a game tailor made for hardcore Street Fighter fans; if Street Fighter IV didn't float your boat, Super won't either. But if you're a hardcore Street Fighter fan, Super is an essential purchase. It is the best fighting game available on this generation of games consoles, and further reinforces Capcom's dominance of the fighting game genre.

About the game

The follow-up to the critically acclaimed Street Fighter IV will further redefine the fighting game genre with classic 2D Street Fighter fighting action, a host of new and returning characters, more advanced online gameplay, enhanced ultra combo system and more. Super Street Fighter IV features the full roster of 25 characters from Street Fighter IV such as Ryu, Ken, Crimson Viper, Abel, El Fuerte, and Rufus, while adding about eight new characters to the world of Street Fighter IV. The impressive new roster includes classic combatants from previous Street Fighter games like T. Hawk, DeeJay, Guy, Cody and Adon as well as all-new characters such as the mysterious and deadly female fighter, Juri. The addition of Juri also brings another first to the Street Fighter franchise as she is the first fighter in series history to utilize the legendary Tae Kwon Do fighting style. Beyond characters, Super Street Fighter IV adds an enhanced Ultra Combo system as well as major enhancements to the online and offline gameplay modes introduced in Street Fighter IV.
