- This game isn’t entirely what I was hoping for from a Super Bomberman R sequel—it re-uses a lot of content, and its Story Mode could use a little work. Still, there’s definitely more good than bad when it comes to this game. So long as you aren’t bothered by its just-okay single-player experience and reliance on Super Bomber Man R Online content, Super Bomberman R 2 is a great game that’s sure to be a blast for you and your friends.
Kenny McKee · Nov 17, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Super Bomberman R2: While this is a must for fans of the series, there is not much to recommend for those looking for a quick match.
Damiano Gerli · Oct 30, 2023 Reviewed on PC, PS5, Series X|S, SwitchRead full review - For fans of the Bomberman series, this entry is easy to recommend. It balances a nice combination between the series’ roots being translated into a top-down isometric 3D world. With interesting innovations and challenging bosses, Super Bomberman R 2 succeeds at what it sets out to without losing any of the traditional fun from its rich history.
Leidy Ximena Lopez Roa · Oct 21, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Despite its stingers, Super Bomberman R 2 is a solid package featuring a decent selection of characters, modes and maps, and a great level editor whose levels can be taken online and for offline play. Highly recommended for your party game line-up.
Genghis Husameddin · Oct 05, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Super Bomberman R 2’s best parts are the ones carried over from older games in the series. Messing around with friends in local and online matches is still fun, and if that's all you're interested in, it's a fine enough experience. Unfortunately, that’s a small portion of the game, making it hard to recommend.
Charles Harte · Sep 28, 2023 Reviewed on Switch - SUPER BOMBERMAN R 2 is a very fun addition to the Bomberman series, an already very successful and fun series that appears to be getting better with age. While the addition of crossplay can make some matches feel a little unbalanced, and some of the CPU characters are far too easy to beat, the game is a very fun party experience and should always be played with friends if the chance arises.
Mariella Deadman · Sep 26, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The Bomberman Brothers are back in Super Bomberman R 2! This sequel adds a new "Castle" mode for standard battles as well as a 64 player battle royale.
Brittany Vincent · Sep 26, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Super Bomberman R 2 is a fun return to the world of bomb-toting multiplayer madness. It’s easy to recommend for the Battle Mode alone, but there’s also a solid Story Mode to keep you entertained, despite some design flaws.
Jemma Casson · Sep 25, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, SUPER BOMBERMAN R 2 is a great reboot of a classic game we all know and love. With the same level of great storytelling and chaos, you’ll be thrown head-first into nostalgia while getting to play an old classic on modern terms. When you’re tired of Story Mode, there’s always some good and friendly fun with friends or through matchmaking if you want an interesting challenge as well. The only downside is the music becoming repetitive and stale after a while, though this is easily fixed by just turning it off and playing your own.
R3GR3T · Sep 23, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I’ll give credit where it’s due; I appreciate that Super Bomberman R 2 does try a few new things with its Story mode that we haven’t really seen in previous entries, including a progression system where you actually level up rather than just collecting the standard power-ups. Even though moving from area to area just to round up all the Ellons gets old pretty quick, it’s definitely novel for a Bomberman game. Unfortunately, what’s meant to be the star of the show, Castle mode, just isn’t a very compelling addition.
