  • What we're talking about here is essentially that Street Fighter sequel everyone dreamed about after Super Turbo, the one that took the Street Fighter II model further without adding the ludicrous complexity of SFIII. The new additions may seem on the surface like token gestures ("Extra super moves? Pah!", a very wrong person would no doubt say), but in reality they masterfully achieve the damnably tricky feat of making everything new and different as well as reasurringly the same, surely the highest ambition of any sequel.

  • Street Fighter IV will welcome you with open arms, whether you're a lapsed fan concerned that you've been out of the loop for too long or you're dipping your toes for the first time. Amazing presentation, intricate and enjoyable fighting gameplay, and long-term appeal with online play make this a must-have. Street Fighter IV is undoubtedly one of the finest examples of the fighting genre in this generation.

  • Street Fighter IV effortlessly captures the Street Fighter spirit, of that there is no doubt. It's instantly familiar but with enough innovation to interest fighting game fanatics willing to dig a little deeper. It would be a stretch to say the PC version is the definitive version – yes the graphics can be better, but not significantly so. The game’s visual appeal is down to its unique art style, not graphics card-melting photorealism.

Street Fighter IV is a great game overall and Capcom should be commended for designing a game that can work on so many levels by appealing to both casual and hardcore players. When I reviewed Street Fighter IV on the PS3 and 360, I really grew to love it -- especially after sinking time into practicing with every character.

  • Simply put, Street Fighter IV is everything gamers had hoped for. The extensive character list, tried-and-true mechanics, gorgeous graphics, and quality play modes (including online battles) have updated this franchise in such a way that it feels both fresh and familiar. If you own a PS3 or Xbox 360, you simply have to go out and pick up Street Fighter IV - it will be remembered as one of the marquis fighting experiences of this generation of gaming.

  • There’s no doubt that Street Fighter IV is a must-buy for anyone interested in the thrills of one-on-one fighting competition. The mechanics are solid, attached to a game that’s fast and accessible, even if you’ve been out of the Street Fighter game for a few years. And despite its thin selection of modes, the core of the game is so remarkably solid that anyone with a passing interest would be a fool to pass up what’s clearly solidified itself as the new standard for the future of fighters.

  • Street Fighter IV is a blast! And arguably one of the most beautiful HD games out there. I’ve been away from the fighting genre for a while, and in all honestly I wasn’t really that optimistic about this game, but boy was I in for a great surprise. I believe this game is a must for anyone who owns a PS3 or a 360. It’s that good, and it nicely welcomes back the older generation of Street Fighter gamers.

  • And while there will no doubt be a small but vociferous core of Third Strike veterans who cry foul over the series' apparent simplification, they will be vastly outnumbered by those players who get to fall in love again with the Street Fighter of their youth: one that's easy to pick up and play, yet near-impossible to master. As a result this is, in almost every way that matters, the perfect Street Fighter.

  • While the game is still fought on a 2D plane, SFIV is one of the best looking fighting games you’ll be able to experience on any system to date. Capcom put a tremendous amount of time into developing fluid animations and extravagant effects to go along with their Ultra Combos. This is truly one spectacular fighting game that proves Capcom’s focal point – Street Fighter is back!

Regardless, Street Fighter IV is no less than the new standard for beat-&-em-ups. It's a triumphant return for the series after an eight year hiatus and is a seamless blend of the old and new, at once accessible to lapsed pugilists while being nuanced enough for the dedicated core to wallow in its depths. What';s more, Street Fighter IV takes an aging template and makes it fresh once more, offering a revival in every sense of the word. The waiting is over Street Fighter IV is home, and it's one very special game.
