- Overall, Space Siege is a game with a catalogue of both major and minor flaws, sloppy, derivative or rushed design, which is uncharacteristic of a developer with this pedigree. Whether you judge it as an RPG or as a third-person action game, Space Siege fails to pass muster, yet despite all the flaws, the game is hard to utterly condemn.
Iain McCafferty · Sep 03, 2008 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It's a shame Space Siege went in the direction it did. Gas Powered Games should be given credit for trying to infuse a genre typically defined by hacking and slashing with important moral decisions and branching gameplay paths, but ultimately failed in the final execution. It was a good idea, but it takes more than a good idea to make a good game.
Jonathan Miller · Aug 26, 2008 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Space Siege is genuinely fun for a while, but at some point in the dozen-or-so-hour campaign it became more tedious than entertaining, and I just wished there was more depth in the mechanics to hold my interest. A couple of glaring omissions didn't help matters, such as cooperative play integrated into the campaign
Brad Shoemaker · Aug 21, 2008 Reviewed on PCRead full review - As an action game, Space Siege works, but just barely. The combat looks bright and colorful on the surface and there is no shortage of menacing enemies and massive explosions, but the AI doesn't provide any real tactical challenge, the layout of the levels and missions is remarkably linear, and the range of abilities and weapons is too limited.
Steve Butts · Aug 12, 2008 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Overall, Space Siege is mildly entertaining, but many of its features will leave the player feeling unsatisfied. Conversely, Space Siege does manage to do some things right, such as making combat fun, which is practically a given considering how much time is spent cutting through enemies. The lack of atmosphere, tension, and urgency doesn't help either, especially since the player is supposed to feel like humanity is on its last leg.
Derek Hidey · Aug 12, 2008 Reviewed on PCRead full review - That said, if you’ve really nothing better to do on a weekend then Space Siege will undoubtedly please the less-demanding action gamers amongst you. Combat is solid, and 4-player co-op support gleans some enhanced entertainment – but nowhere near enough to raise the execution above anything approaching average. If you’ve not given Titan Quest or Diablo a try, there really isn’t anything contained within Space Siege to make it worth your while.
Emmanuel Brown · Sep 02, 2008 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It is, however, a genuine failure, perhaps even a spectacular one. It could do serious damage to Taylor and Gas Powered Game's once-golden reputation, and I pray it's just a one-off blip. With the Supreme Commander games apparently alienating as many players as they charmed, I suspect much hinges on the upcoming, self-published Demigod.
