- Neon blues and fiery reds shine against outer-space backgrounds, with the art leaning into the tech noir that personifies Cobra’s universe.
· Oct 27, 2025 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Space Adventure Cobra: The Awakening has a lot going for it, a charming cartoon aesthetic, great storytelling, and solid gunplay.
Adrian Burrows · Oct 15, 2025 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Space Adventure Cobra: The Awakening brings Buichi Terasawa’s iconic space rogue to life with a mix of faithful adaptation and sharp 2D action.
· Sep 07, 2025 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Verdict 7 10 0 1 A real blast from the past, Space Adventure Cobra - The Awakening is as classic an anime as it gets. Whilst it seems like a niche game for the fans, it's an accessible action platformer for old and newcomers a like.
· Sep 05, 2025 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - I love that gamers in 2025 get an adaptation of a relatively obscure 1982 anime. I love that it actually incorporates cutscenes from that anime.
· Sep 02, 2025 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Space Adventure Cobra: The Awakening is a 2D action platformer based on the first 12 episodes of the classic anime series.
Stephan Adamus · Sep 02, 2025 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - GREAT A fine action platformer all around, with only a few small hiccups. This shoot-’em-up embraces backtracking and light puzzle elements, while weaving in plenty of nostalgic moments from the classic anime.
Matthew Carmosino · Aug 28, 2025 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - 7.5 Space Adventure Cobra – The Awakening is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Reviewed on Nintendo Switch.
· Aug 27, 2025 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It’s very cool to see Space Adventure Cobra repurposed in this format, and we daresay The Awakening’s going to breed a fresh generation of franchise fans – especially as it includes tons of original footage from the TV show. While the in-game art style doesn’t quite measure up to the anime and the gameplay has some rough edges to it, there’s a surprisingly good rhythm to the action at times, and some clever use of the eponymous adventurer’s arsenal.
Sammy Barker · Aug 26, 2025 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Space Adventure Cobra - The Awakening is a stylish, complex, and heartfelt remake of a cult classic. It has some flaws, but it's full of passion, making it great for both fans and new players.
